The brand of product you buy can vary in importance, from person to person. Some people will of course be much more particular about the brands they will use. Whilst others aren’t interested in the brand and are more interested in the overall quality or price of the product itself. Thankfully Pure is a brand that many customers have grown to love over the years and is very popular for items in the Radios category. The thing that really makes the Pure Evoke H3 stand out when compared to alternatives like the H2, is the full-colour digital screen. The vivid screen presents radio station artwork in full colour. However, it’s worth noting that this rather compact device is a little small when it comes to volume too. If you’re looking for something that will get your furniture vibrating – then this isn’t it. The Pure Evoke H3 can get loud enough – but it’s limited in volume. Evoke H3 can be powered by the supplied mains adapter or with the optional ChargePAK B1, giving you up to 30 hours of truly portable listening.

On Mon 15/03 the radio was running plugged into mains power and a message came up which then said it was going to install a wi-fi upgrade, it then said that installation was in progress and that I should not turn off the radio. I left the radio installing, after a long while I noticed that aPure Evoke Flow logo had appeared on the display and that the update had appeared to be completed. I left the radio as it was for a while and then I unplugged it. My Pure Evoke 3 has stopped working this week. It's only around 3 years old and seems to be a software problem...

The best DAB radios you can buy in 2023

The compact design of the Pure Evoke H3 would make it an ideal option for those in search of portability – although there’s no carry handle included. Pure Evoke H3 review: Features The next step for us was to look at all of the products that fall within the Radios category, of which we found 57 products at Argos. So we pulled together all of the prices of these products to analyse the average prices as well as finding the cheapest and most expensive options. If the brand you buy is important to you, our best advice is to spend some time writing up your own list of ideal brands. That way when you come to the point where you’re comparing product options you can filter to only show the products from brands in your list. At first, the output is a little underwhelming. There’s more warmth than you might expect from a small plastic radio, but not much clarity or definition. Give it a few minutes, though, and the sound opens up. While the quality is still a bit boxy and congested, with a muddy low-end, it’s both very listenable and easily tunable through preset and custom EQs. With four AA batteries, you’re only looking at around eight hours of use, but this is a great radio for the money, all the same. Evoke say that they cannot ensure that their products are " futureproof" which I can understand... that would be impossible... but to wash your hands of a product that for me is only a few years old makes me wonder about ever buying a Pure radio again... as good as they are!

If you can’t find any programs that you want to listen to via the radio signals, then you can use the Bluetooth connectivity instead. The Evoke H3 will work as a wireless speaker with your tablet, smartphone, or laptop, showing your album artwork on the colour display as it plays. One of the more affordable radios in our roundup, this is the successor to the original Spectrum Duo from John Lewis and brings a 2.8-inch colour LCD, Bluetooth and NFC to the party. Instructions for recovery can be found here: http://support.pure.com/kb_article.php?ref=5285-WVEM-0367 These failures are rare and can be caused by electrical spikes or some other harsh interruption of the radio's normal process, and if it happens the radio is programmed to default to it's 'USB loader' screen where it can await recovery. Often, when we review a Pure radio, style is one of the first things we notice. The Evoke H3 has a very similar appeal to many of the other items in the Evoke series. It looks a bit like the slimmer version of the C-D4, with its authentic wood finish and bold white faceplate. The next step after looking at products in the same category, was to look at products from the same brand, Pure. Evoke H3 has a vivid and informative 2.4” full colour TFT display. The clear screen makes accessing the growing number of digital radio stations a breeze. View your favourite station’s information and slideshow artwork in full colour. rusty_brown said they've been on v1.8 for at least several months ("last year"), and their radio stopped working Monday Mar 8th *after* a week of problems.
