Description

The feature specification of DECT models is remarkably uniform, and, as you’ll see from our recommendations, the market is now dominated by just a couple of big household brands.

The KX-TGK222 also includes a number of additional features to make it even more useful. A Do Not Disturb mode ensures the phone won’t ring between set hours unless the call comes from a predefined VIP number. If you are concerned about potentially harmful radiation, then this handset also features an eco mode which can be toggled on or off. Why Should You Buy This Cordless Phone? In the past internet service providers needed a landline to transfer data to and from your router. However, with fibre optic broadband becoming much more commonplace, even that necessity is dying out. Fibre optic broadband is an entirely separate kind of cabling, thus making it unnecessary to have a landline to use the internet.Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish Also, the elegant colour and modest size of the incoming call LED indicator matches your bedroom in particular. At 16 hours of talktime and 200hr on standby, the battery life is standard; and the range of 100m should be big enough for most homes.

This phone’s upright style and small footprint help it blend seamlessly with your interior. And its sophisticated silver finish exudes luxury. It’s not the only problem, either. This is the only phone I reviewed that doesn’t have an answering machine. A baffling exclusion if you ask me. Older people are the very generation who still use answering machine messages! DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is a worldwide standard for digital wireless voice application. It’s the core technology powering wireless home phones. A one-touch eco-mode keeps the phone in standby until a call is received or made. The only caveat is the slightly limited talk time. At just 11 hours (and 150 on standby), this Smartphone Connect will require charging more often than non-smart rivals. The handset itself is a nice size and light, so it feels good in the hand during long phonecalls. The buttons are big enough for those with viewing difficulties to be able to see what they’re doing. And the design is reasonably sleek: handset and base station slot together in a nice, ergonomic fashion. And therein lies a problem. The instruction manual for the Big Button isn’t great. It seems to have been written for people who are more well-versed in technology than this phone’s target audience. In addition, some features of the phone aren’t mentioned in the instructions at all, forcing users to go online to find out how to do certain things. All returned goods should include a note with the same details as required for the request for return (a printed copy of your correspondence with us to return the item will suffice). There are 40 polyphonic ringtones, plus an eco mode plus, which ensures the base unit remains off until a call comes in, or the handset lifted. If there was ever a cordless phone to lust over, this is it.

The BT4600 is also supplied with an inductive coupler and earpiece volume control, designed to make it easier for hearing aid users to take and make phone calls. It has an outdoor wireless range of up to 300m too, and an indoor range of up to 50m. As you may have noticed, none of the landline phones I tested come with a telephone cord. That’s because, basically, it’s really hard to find corded landline phones anymore. Of the major brands I reached out to, only BT offers corded phones as a matter of course. Even then, they are considered outdated technology. Comparing the quality of these cordless phones with my desk phone which has a cord, I didn’t notice any real difference. Why we like it: At a bargain price point this phone offers tonnes of functionality in a sleek handset I’m going to cover these as one because they’re basically exactly the same (except for a few little bits that I’ll go over at the end of this review) and are both really good phones. One of the first things that became apparent was that the call quality – the sound you get through the earpiece – is essentially identical. So I looked elsewhere for points of difference: design, functionality and ease of use.

Things to consider

Buying tip: Using a technology called Smartphone Connect, you can integrate your smartphone with your landline. After registering your mobile to your cordless phone base station, you can take, and make, landline calls on your smartphone. This only works with Smartphone Connect-enabled cordless phones. The repair of products does not apply to faults caused by commercial use, wear and tear, accidental damage, neglect, misuse, damage resulting from exposure to sand and water, or failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions. The two-tone colour scheme keeps the design looking fresh, and unlike so many cordless phones, the display is full colour. There’s also a 150-name phonebook and an integrated answering machine with 30 minutes recording capacity. Helpfully, you can transfer the phonebook between each of the four bundled handsets; individual ringtones can be assigned to selected handsets for internal calls, and you can transfer internal calls between them. In addition to caller display, there’s anonymous call silencing, and a choice of thirty selectable ringtones. Talk time is set at 14 hours, with stand-by lasting a full 320 hours. In the unlikely event that your product has arrived damaged by the courier, we would request you to notify them of delivery as an official notice to the carrier and advise us immediately.
