To test the LG C2 we used Portrait Displays Calman colour calibration software. LG C2 OLED review: Gaming There are several moments in Netflix’s The Dig where the LG uncovers more detail in night-time scenes than the A80J, such as the scene where Lily James’ and Johnny Flynn’s characters connect after a Spitfire crash. The LG is better able to reveal the tree line behind them, and the outlines of the door of a little hut they end up at is more defined in the darkness whereas on the Sony it can barely be seen. Gamers, on the other hand, will appreciate the inclusion of FreeSync, G-Sync and standard VRR right out of the box. With a native 120Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1, PS5 and Xbox Series X owners can get the maximum resolution and frame rate from their new hardware, while high-end PC owners will have a solid option should they decide to connect their PC to their TV via HDMI. Also appreciated is the new "Prevent Input Delay" setting that can be set to boost for an incredibly low 1.5ms delay. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits)

OLED TV brings breath-taking clarity and detail to your living room. Stream 4K HDR content from Netflix, Sky or Prime Video. Key benefits of LG OLED TVs: Subtitles and audio description information displayed on electronic programme guide more info panel This second scene is in fact lifted just a touch across the board, though we’re talking fine margins. Detail levels are a little higher, with the C2 digging up even more of Bond’s characterful skin blemishes as he watches Madeleine swim. There’s slightly more cool purity to whites, too, which should appeal to those who favour the sort of neutral colour balance typically offered by a Standard mode. With a Blu-ray of Thor: The Dark World, it’s as if I’m watching a 4K version of the film. No noise, no blurriness or jagged edges; just terrific levels of fine detail in costumes and faces, natural colours, a clean-looking image, and impressive levels of sharpness.

The LG C2 is equally as impressive when it comes to HDR, and while not as bright as the G2, it can hit 754cd/m2 on a 10% window and 174cd/m2 on a full-field pattern in the Standard mode, and 756cd/m2 on a 10% window and 164cd/m2 on a full-field pattern in the more accurate Filmmaker mode. Although a smidge brighter than last year’s C1, it’s not a huge difference. Dolby Vision™: LG OLED TVs are compatible with HDR formats including Dolby Vision, which enhances your picture frame by frame. Switching to Filmmaker mode still leaves the energy saving “Eco” setting at Auto. This adjusts the brightness of the image depending on the amount of ambient light, and unfortunately, turning it off isn’t intuitive. You’ll need to go to All Settings – General – OLED Care – Device Self Care – Energy Saving – Energy Saving Step, and switch this setting from Auto to Off. You’re now free to set the overall brightness of the Filmmaker mode to your personal preference.Filmmaker mode (as well as ISF Expert, Game Optimizer and HDR Cinema) does come with one caveat, though: you don’t get LG’s TruMotion feature, which increases sharpness, smoothness, and reduces judder in fast-moving scenes. In a 24p movie, four frames are artificially created in between the original frames, increasing the frame count to 120. Like the Cinema mode for Dolby Vision, this warmer picture made skin tones look very natural, adding a slight yellow tinge that felt very lifelike. As we watched the scene in which Dr Octopus and Spider-Man duke it out in the bank, the colors looked accurate and the contrast levels were well balanced. Some don’t love Filmmaker mode, but I appreciate its inclusion for the purposes of accuracy. Despite that, colour accuracy out of the box wasn’t as good as the C1; but to my eyes the picture was very strong. However, avoid watching standard definition SDR content in this mode, since it’s a pretty dim image. Sound Quality The Magic remote carries over from 2021 and feels less fiddly to use, the cursor less prone to flying across the screen. It has hotkeys for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Rakuten, as well as shortcuts for Alexa and Google digital assistants. Percentage luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output
