When it feels as though your heart is unable to make it through one more disappointment … one more challenge … or one more storm … remind yourself of this truth: My boiling emotions tell me that God doesn’t care … that He is nowhere to be found … that He is far, far away. There are myriads of beliefs in which one gets entangled, and tends to jump from one to another in an attempt to get the desired result; but when he meets failure after failure, there arises in him the genuine desire to know what is really right; what are the real facts behind what he experiences. So come, let us try and get the right answer to our query – ‘God where are you, when I need you?’ Let me direct God’s first question to you: Where are you? Are you hiding, afraid of God, because of sin in your life? Maybe you’re trying to cover your sin with the fig leaves of your good works. Perhaps, like Jonah, you are one of God’s children, and yet you are running from His purpose for your life. You have sin you have not confessed to Him. Your guilt may make you think that God is after you to punish you. The Bible says that God is after you to save you from the judgment your sin deserves. He is graciously calling, “Where are you?” If you will come to Him and confess your sin, He will deliver you from Satan’s domain of darkness and transfer you to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom you will have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Col. 1:13-14). That’s how to deal with your guilt. Discussion Questions It has been said by some that God is just a crutch. But it is likely that He is the only reliable one.

The facts are that politics are nasty, the pandemic is relentless, that isolation is destructive and that the economy is broken. Look at Genesis 3:9 and listen for the tenderness, the compassion and the concern in this question that God asks of His children. In this three-word question there is a three-fold proof of God’’s love. First, He proves His love to us in that He dealt with Adam’s sin –- He did not overlook it or condone it. How could He? Again, His love is proved in that He at once promised to send a Saviour; that promise is contained in Genesis 3:15 (KJV) where we read of the “seed of the woman”, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Redeemer –- look up Galatians 4:4-6. God also proved His love by asking this question in the immediate provision that He made for the nakedness of His children –- Genesis 3:21 tells us about this.We need to give Jesus access to the dead areas of our hearts, our relationships and life’s dreams. Let Jesus speak life to those spiritually dead areas of your heart and life. Allow the Holy Spirit to call out those areas that you may not even be aware of; the joy and happiness that you once had that may have died can be resurrected. The hurt, pain and suffering caused by sin can be healed in Jesus’ name. Think logically, if God is the giver, why is He giving us miseries and not happiness? How can we call such an entity God, who derives pleasure from seeing people cry? On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. 18 Now Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem, 19 and many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their brother. 20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. When your heart is broken, the Lord’s heart is also broken. Jesus knows personally of your pain and sorrow. Jesus felt the sorrow that both Mary and Martha were experiencing regarding the loss of their brother. Jesus wept as well. Behind the serpent, Satan is condemned to an existence of frustration and defeat. This is seen most pointedly in the cross, where Satan thought he had finally defeated God’s program by killing the Savior. But the cross was God’s greatest victory, because in it and in the resurrection of Christ, Satan’s final doom was secured. Though during this age God allows Satan some leash, so that he wins some battles, he’s going to lose the war!

That God’s seeking was gracious is seen in the fact that He came looking. God could have zapped them both on the spot and started over with a new couple. He could have waited a while. Let them stew in their own juice. Let them hide behind those silly fig leaves, cowering in fear every time they hear a noise in the bushes. Let them pay for what they’ve done. But the implication is that God came looking the same day Adam and Eve sinned. That was pure grace. God doesn’t seek us because we deserve it. We deserve His judgment, but He seeks us to save us. That’s grace! But if you are a believer in Jesus, if you are someone who has given your life to God… this may be a real struggle for you. What happens when you believe in God but you find it hard to pray? What happens when you have faith in God but when you pray you feel like no one is listening? What happens when you feel like you need God, you’re desperate for God, desperate for God’s help, but it seems like no one is there. Like your prayers hit the ceiling. Like you’re trying to get God’s attention but no matter what, things just aren’t working out like you thought they would. Where are you God? God knows that as humans we’re weak and frail. He knows we need help. He wants to offer that to us. Yet it’s up to us to receive it. And if we think He’s mad at us, then that’s a lot harder to do. But we all know that ups and downs are a part of everyone’s life. We like the ups and not the downs! When life is rosy, we are confident and boastful about whatever we do. But when things go bleak, we look forward to God with the expectation that He will come and bail us out of the difficult situation. The truth is that only God ~ not a person or a political party ~ has the power to heal what is broken on planet earth. Why? Mom can’t find Jesus today. She’s “lost” Him. At 93, it hurts to see the woman who taught me to “hold His hand – you are NEVER alone” be lost, lonely and forlorn. Now may the God of hope fill you withalljoy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by thepowerof the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13 Because we all sin, we all need to deal with the problem of guilt. It is not surprising that the enemy of our souls offers many counterfeit solutions. So we must be careful to answer from the Bible alone the question, “How does God deal with my guilt?” The fig leaves of human solutions to guilt will not suffice in the day when we stand before the living God. The story of God’s coming to that first guilty, fig-leaf-clad, hiding couple, shows us God’s solution to guilt. When I say that God’s seeking Adam was gracious, I mean that Adam did not deserve to be found and forgiven. He had rebelled openly and deliberately against God and His great love. No sinner deserves God’s favor. Two things underscore the fact that God’s seeking was gracious:
