About this deal

More often than not, romance books I stumble upon feel almost rehearsed, like another scene I had witnessed with countless fictional couples in other books. There is often nothing special or personal about the relationship. In this story's case, I ended up believing in their love. i know some people will feel the chemistry between kellan & charlie more, but i think it's because they were angsty teenagers who bonded through their love for books, they were two halves of the same soul but more in a friendship way to me. with tate and charlie it felt like something i would want, they pushed each other to be better. tate stood up for charlie by talking to leah and telling her to stop being a bitch to her sister and charlie showed tate what it's like to unconditionally love someone.

from the moment this kilt/skirt-wearing, tall, lanky, pale, vampire, emo, writer boy entered this book i was smitten. i fell in love with his words just the way charlotte did, fast, spinning out of control because the pain that poured out from his body was something you just couldn't look away from. I WILL ADMIT that I definitely felt a lot in this book, especially for Tate and Leah. Maybe it’s just my “oldest sibling syndrome” haha 😅 I was obviously really frustrated with how Leah acted for a majority of the novel, but I felt like it made sense given what happened. I thought both Tate and Leah’s guilt and pain were really well writtenThat night in a field of planets absent of stars, he granted my demands, kissing me until my lips bruised and the sun rose over the horizon” Then you have the time Charlie walks into the clinic and basically demands that Tate gives her an appointment for her boss. She’s mad he isn’t available because it’s Valentine’s Day (aka the day Kellan died) so she’s mad because she thinks he’s playing around on a day like that. After walking in on him doing the deed and taking care of it, she expects him to give her an appointment.

anyways, this review took so long to write because i always find it hard to explain why i loved a book, roasting is just so much easier 😂 i think this book is worth the read, especially on a rainy day. yes it's long and for some people, it may drag, but i really enjoy long books (zodiac academy and binding/keeping 13 girls will get it), and this was a slow burn at its finest. So why not 5 stars? Although i liked it very much and i would probably remember it for a long time i think it was unnecessary too long. The middle part dragged so much with things repeating and the push and pull between Tate and Charlie felt exhausting at one point. I just wanted Tate to get his head out of his ass bc he started to annoy the hell out of me with his wishy washy behaviour.Yes well, that’s usually what happens when you voluntarily decide to wait in the waiting room after being told the doctor won’t take any walk-ins for reasons you don't know)
