About this deal

INDEED! This thing will absolutely exfoliate! I actually know a dermatologist who uses it as a sort of pretreatment before chemical peels because it provides similar benefits to a light microdermabrasion session. Here’s a quote coming straight out of his mouth:

Considered the “new-and-improved Mia 2,” this three-in-one facial cleansing device is designed to simplify your skin-care routine. There are three cleansing modes to choose from: gentle, daily and smart. Each mode is intended to help you personalize your routine. The Mia Smart also has a built-in time strip that will turn red when it’s time for you to replace your brush head. The device comes in white, pink and mint.In addition to struggling on social media, Clarisonic struggled to respond to changing skincare trends and preferences. In recent years, its scrubbing tool became increasingly viewed as abrasive. In a tweet Wednesday about Clarisonic’s closure, beauty reporter Cheryl Wischhover points out, “Harsh facial cleansing and exfoliating techniques fell out of favor as the double cleanse and acid exfoliators became ascendant.” When to replace: For maximum results, we suggest changing your brush head when you notice any signs of wear.

The Clarisonic Daily Radiance Brush has had an upgrade, with re-design and brand new features. Now with perfectly curved bristles to hug every contour of your skin, its soft rounded bristles deliver a deep yet gentle cleanse for better skin. The outer ring gently massages while whisking away impurities better than ever. Featuring new soft elastomers between the bristles, it helps to gently massage away the impurities.

Answer: Well, it’s quite complex actually. Unlike cheaper alternatives, the Mia 2 brush doesn’t rotate but pulsates 170 times per second. This movement loosens the skin and removes dirt from clogged pores. And it does it in a very gentle manner so it’s safe to use it twice a day if you want. The Clarisonic patent describes it as follow: “the personal care appliance includes an oscillating motor structure in the body thereof which drives an armature through a total angle of 8°-26°, at a frequency in the range of 120-220 Hz.( 1)”“By oscillating at sonic speed the net result is the inelastic comedones become loosened and detached from the infundibular wall and are then cleared from the acro infundibulum.( 2)”

The Olay ProX also has two different levels of speed. More importantly, the Olay’s brush only rotates on its axis. It’s better than just washing your face with your hands. It will leave you refreshed. But it’s far inferior to the sonic vibration technology of the Clarisonic Mia 2. Personally, I would begin using it every other day. The absolute maximum amount of times you should be using it is twice daily. By far and large, the people that can pull that off will have pretty tough skin. For years people have said that Clarisonic exfoliates their skin, however, with its unique oscillating Sonic cleansing technique, this fact has only ever been a beauty myth. Until now.

A more immediate problem for all Clarisonic users now, is how to get replacement brushes since the device requires users to buy a new cleansing brush every three months. A new version of the Clarisonic Mia brush came out since I first reviewed it. It’s essentially the same facial cleansing brush, but the Mia Smart comes with a mobile app to help you improve your cleansing routine.
