Lucy was born to a single parent who had herself been abused and neglected for most of her childhood. Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope with a baby and Lucy was neglected right from the beginning. Despite concerns being raised by her teachers and other adults Lucy wasn’t taken into permanent foster care until she was eight years old. But even then her problems weren’t over. As she was moved from one foster home to another she became increasingly distressed. Having read all of Cathy Glass’ books, I had high expectations of this book, and they were fulfilled! I recommend this book to anybody.

Tao formerly lived in Nigeria, but was kidnapped by his mother and taken to the UK illegally. To help support her debauched life of drinking, and drugs, his abusive mother was a prostitute. The mother cast Tayo out onto the streets after he sustained an injury and was no longer able to earn money for the woman. Based on the horrors that he suffered on the streets of Central London, Glass wrote that she had never met a child that showed the kind of strength as Tayo. He had the kind of inner resolve that she had never seen before. Continued Success I've just had to give up on a book of which I had high expectations so needed a replacement to settle me and Cathy Glass books are consistently good quality.

Tilly can't put up with it anymore and goes to social services and demands to live elsewhere.As soon as I get a book by Cathy Glass I have to read it straight away… not only an author but a wonderful and very caring lady…" Adrian, Lucy and Paula are all young adults now. Adrian went away to study at university and then returned home. Lucy and Paula went to local colleges and university. Fantastic book. Sad, but a story that must be told. I was gripped right from the beginning. I would definitely recommend this book. Nice keeping up to date with Cathy and her lovely family."
