One more thing that I liked about the book was that there wasn’t the regular third act breakup structure we usually see. There were ups and downs throughout. It kept me entertained for sure. From the beginning all the way to the very end, this book had me hooked. I'll always be down to read the good girl x bad boy trope and this one did not miss. The thing I love most about this trope is the fact that these characters are more similar than they think. This applies to Wren and Crew as well. I love how Monica Murphy walks us through the character development between these two and that she wrote them in a way that tells us that they bring out the absolute best in each other. A few years later and her world has been thrown several curveballs. From the unwanted attention from her stepbrother who repeatedly raped her, her mom’s affair made public knowledge and a house fire that killed her stepfather and stepbrother. Now she is about to transfer to the elite Lancaster Prep for her senior year but any ideas of a new start are shattered when she discovers that Whit Lancaster is in her year and set to make her life hell. Turning into a high school bully that isolates her from everyone but somehow still makes her want him. side note to the lollipop scene; have y’all ever watched riverdale (that series on netflix) ? because the only thing going through my head besides disgust, was that ringtone on betty’s phone when the serial killer / her dad, called her. please tell me i’m not the only one. I’m a Lancaster, meaning I’m basically untouchable–or so I thought. It’s my family who owns this God forsaken private school that I don’t want to attend. But according to my parents, I have to endure my senior year at Lancaster Prep before I can return to what I love the most: ballet.

The fact that he never gave up made me love him more. He took her leaving as incentive to prove himself to her and I loveeddddd this. the things that crew does for wren 🥰 i almost wish they had a massive argument, because i know crew would deliver the best grovel.

CONS: I wasn't particularly comfortable about the ring scene. I won't go into much detail but I feel like he initially treated it as a trophy and I wasn't a fan of that. However, his later dialogue (at least, for me) made up for it. it's a coming-of-age story, especially for our girl wren, who throughout this book goes on a journey of liberating herself sexually and breaking out of the box she has put herself in her whole life, and the boy, crew, who helps her accept herself. and let’s not forget that one of the teachers at this prestigious boarding school is a known pedo/phile, yet no one does anything about it??

the few posts i've seen have romanticized this book for being a "fun good girl x bad boy romance” with the added bonus of a boarding school setting and overall rich kid energy. It did not improve through out the book. In fact I’m pretty sure all Crew and Wren had were sexual chemistry based on him being “bad” and her being untouched so he could “corrupt her” 🤮. Was Wren way too naive and prude for my liking at the beginning of this book? Definitely. Did I have to get over it and force myself to not let her entire personality bother me? 100% - but you know what? It was worth it —- At first i really didn’t like her, but as the story went on and she started thinking for herself, making her own decisions and doing what she wanted to do - I started liking her more and more and I definitely enjoyed seeing her character develop the way it did.if you're looking for an intricate and complex plot, this is not that book. if you're looking for high action or excessive drama between the MCs, this is not that either. this is hands down one of the sweetest romances i've read.

honestly, this book just wasn’t for me. it all felt wrong and wired to me, and it was actually impossible for me to find any cute moments, because i hated the mc’s, therefore it was very hard to find anything involving them cute.Even the older girls, the upperclassmen, were drawn to her. Completely captivated by a seemingly innocent green-eyed girl who has barely spoken ten words to me in the entirety of her time here. exhibit one: “Better not.
