Now, after the chaos, to create an army... Andrea, the best choice to train them in arms; but, people are always people: they never like when things start to change... What Lies Ahead" • " Bloodletting" • " Save the Last One" • " Cherokee Rose" • " Chupacabra" • " Secrets" • " Pretty Much Dead Already" • " Nebraska" • " Triggerfinger" • " 18 Miles Out" • " Judge, Jury, Executioner" • " Better Angels" • " Beside the Dying Fire" Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, Charlie Adlard and Cliff Rathburn have created one of the most widely recognised comics in years and there's not even a hint of a superhero anywhere. Credit must be given also to Charlie Adlard for his reliably impressive art from portraying the grim brutality of the world the characters live in to dealing with powerful emotional scenes. It takes skill to provoke a reaction from a reader with nothing more than a few panels of dialogue free art but Adlard makes it look easy. The unfairly overlooked Cliff Rathburn deserves credit too for his gray tones, The Walking Dead much like Romero's Night of the Living Dead just doesn't/wouldn't look right in colour.

I have a few questions, I have seen in previous comments that the compendiums seem to be the best root to go. I have never read comics before really but LOVE the walking dead. Do the compendiums come with original comic artwork? What is the difference between compendiums and the omnibus? Where can I buy hardcover or limited editions of the compendiums? The omnibuses are generally more limited and smaller. They’re for if you want something really special to have on your shelf if that makes sense.

Collected Editions

To tell you the truth, if it weren`t for the TV series, I doubt I would have enjoyed this book as much as I did. This review is in response only to the deluxe hardcover, which contains issues 1-24, and should not be confused with other releases. I've listed my reading date in Nov. 2005 because I have been following the comic since that time.

The final edition available is the compendiums. These softcover editions which collect a whopping 48 issues. That’s a lot of comics! Obviously, I`ve watched the TV series from its beginning and have liked it very much... I did get hooked on that one. So, I thought I`d give the comic another try. And, what the hey, may as well splurge and get the Omnibus hardcovers while I`m at it, right? I expect these are the same people who think Lord of the Rings is boring and stupid because the Great Eagles could have just taken Frodo to Mount Doom and saved all that troublesome walking about and getting lost, etc.

It's also good to see other characters like Abraham really coming into their own and seeming like they've been there from the beginning despite only being rather recent additions to the group. There's also a great twist on the usual threat from a group of outsiders event. Book One • Book Two • Book Three • Book Four • Book Five • Book Six • Book Seven • Book Eight • Book Nine • Book Ten • Book Eleven • Book Twelve • Book Thirteen • Book Fourteen • Book Fifteen • Book SixteenThe reason The Walking Dead works so well and is utterly engrossing and compulsive is due to Kirkman's deft talent for characterisation, the more you read about the on-going hardships of these characters the more you want to read. Refreshingly these characters aren't good or bad for the most part they're just regular people in a very irregular situation. What would you do to protect your family in a world where the old rules don't exist anymore? At what point does killing someone become normal? These questions and more are what The Walking Dead is built on. On the bright side that the story is slightly different from the Tv series. Okay maybe not slightly but my point is, you get to enjoy two different story line !!! The third graphic novel in the trilogy. No release date has been announced yet. What is The Walking Dead Weekly? Abraham tells her that he is not sorry about cheating on her, he is just sorry that he hurt her in the process. Abraham goes on to explain that when he first met Rosita, she fulfilled a need for him after his wife had died. Eventually, however, he found himself thinking about the possibility that Rosita wasn't the last woman on earth - now, of course, he's realized that she is not. Rosita curses him and leaves.
