Description

I want to rate this 5 stars because there are poems in this book that I like, but I don't like over half of the book. The "chapters" seem random and I can understand why Angemeer put them in there like that but I just don't like it. The RRP is the suggested or Recommended Retail Price of a product, set by the publisher or manufacturer. We get in our own way by adhering to toxic beliefs that divide and belittle and diminish, distracting us from the real work of the spiritual path, which is to go deeper, not get smaller.

Mindful Prompt: Settle. Breathe. The world is a roomy place. There is no competition between you and God for glory. There is only life and wonder to be shared and discovered together. One of the most exciting aspects of the time in which we live is the rediscovery of Christian practices and a renewed understanding of their purpose. Spiritual disciplines create openings in our lives where the grace, mercy and presence of God may be experienced. These practices are means of grace – safe spaces in which our loving God embraces us. Practices defined early Methodism. To use a more contemporary language, John Wesley laid out a ‘rule of life’ for the early Methodist people. He never viewed rules and regulations as an instrument of control, rather he conceived spiritual disciplines as instruments of liberation and empowerment. As in all other areas of Wesleyan theology, grace pervades these practices, and a wide range of works of piety and mercy shaped early Methodists as a people of grace and love. Ultimately, those practices in which they engaged became ways by which Methodists participated in God’s work of love, grace and shalom (peace) in the world. Welcoming the stranger

There Is Room for All of You Here - Goodreads

I had a hard time choosing a rating for this one. Like a previous poetry collection I read by the same author, the poems are very personal. Majority of the poems are based off of people they knew or met, or of herself, so it is difficult to rate something very personal. In the Christmas story, we are made acutely aware that there was no room for Joseph and Mary to rest when they arrived in Bethlehem, in the more traditional places reserved for hospitality in Jewish culture. This meant they had to use other spaces which were available. My favorite was probably the Virgo chapter, where it's suddenly all about being a feminist and having mommy issues, like it's somehow a universal experience for all Virgos to not get along with their mothers. This needed way more shaping and editing. The other poetry collection I read from this author was just as bad, and I can see no learning of the art of poetry, no development.

Stay up to date

This probably resonated with me the most right now and it was kinda scary to see it written down on paper 😵

When He Leaves You by Michaela Angemeer | Goodreads When He Leaves You by Michaela Angemeer | Goodreads

Perhaps you have sometimes felt on the edges of things. Perhaps you are not religious. Perhaps you are struggling with the cost of living or see people close to you struggle and wish things were different. Perhaps you are young and sometimes feel patronised. Perhaps you are older and sometimes feel ignored. Fall into this collection of poetry and prose inspired by healing and being open to love again, perfect for fans of Rupi Kaur and Courtney Peppernell. Because in The Divine world - which is the world we live in - the human and the holy share infinite space; there is no end to what can be shared here; there's room for it all. There's a whole story that gives John The Baptists' words, "God must increase, I must decrease," context, and a life beyond the dualistic idea of giving up on yourself so that God can be God. Sacrifice that old and stale idea on the altar, even now as you read this. Room for All The Revd Dr Paul Chilcote says ‘a wide embrace’ has always characterised Methodism and, taking our cue from Jesus, we make room for all.

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
