About this deal

This is my first middle-grade novel. I’ve been wanting to write it for years, but found myself so busy, it didn’t happen. Finally, I decided that if I was going to write it, I just had to find that time somehow. My new baby didn’t ‘do’ sleep much, so I wrote the first draft in 4 minute bursts while he napped. That was enough to get the story down from beginning to end. Then the editing could begin! And here we are. Sid Jones loves hanging out in the graveyard with her best friend Zen - they are desperate to see a real-life ghost! All she saw - all she felt - were the books, their words breathing stories, wisdom, and the only escape and freedom she had ever known.“I enjoy the story but it's very long winded and both me and my daughter lost interest towards the end. This series is on the younger end of Middle Grade, the territory designed for children who are now reading above the chapter book level (so for about 7-8 year olds.) I think it's important to know the exact age range of a book before starting, as it helps get you in the right frame of mind. Particularly if you the reader are not of the target audience.

When she's not off on an adventure with them,Amy enjoys drinking tea and climbing trees. Regretfully there is no way of knowing Madam. The Tower is a changeable and dangerous taskmaster. It’s all-seeing, all-knowing...” But if you want to find out how the curse leads to her freedom, you're definitely going to have to read this book. And read it, you should. It is such a fun story full of action, puzzles, friends, frustration, and a skeleton in a closet. Yes, an actual skeleton in an actual closet. The characters that Nine meets inside the house are great, and they add quite a bit of comedy, sometimes a comedy of errors, to the story. Now, don’t go read this book expecting a deep, complicated story with a bow wow twist and ending. The wonderful thing about this book is on the journey itself. It will take you on a magical ride, laugh with you, and made you forget your problem a little bit. It’s like a good friend that will cheer you up in an instant. Okay, Imagine going a theme park with a good friend. That’s how I feel!!! It was good. But not great! Having read a lot of Middle-Grade books, I feel this was unable to hold my attention in the way I had hoped. I believe it was partly due to the fact that I had very different kinds of expectations from the book! There's only one problem: the House is nervous about travelling – and gets the hiccups! Bouncing from world to world with every "HIC!", they finally land at the championships, only for Flabberghast to have an unfortunate run-in with square number seven, and find himself faced with the terrible Tower at the End of Time. At the Strangeworlds Travel Agency, each suitcase transports you to a different world. All you have to do is step inside... The entire concept was brilliant and from start to finish, you couldn’t help but root for each character. A fun, quirky middle grade story. Clearly more amusing for children than perhaps adults, but I could still enjoy the creative situations, settings and scenes.
