About this deal

Absolutely. I’m working on the sequel now and have a final volume on the horizon after that. The second book is still in the early draft stages but I’m aiming for something that feels like a cross between a ghost story and a murder mystery, and one that plunges even deeper into the malleability of the past and who gets to determine what history truly is. Amina stands out from the usual superhero sorts for two reasons. The first is that she is a lifelong criminal, (Make me good, but not yet?) even though she seems to have a good heart. Second is that she is a middle-aged mom. She has to struggle not only with the challenge of her aquatic mission, but with the conflict between her desire to stay at home to raise her daughter and her need for seafaring adventure. Parenting and piracy seem poor partners. There are other ongoing thematic concerns. Coming to terms with one’s past deeds is among them. There are plenty of ledgers to balance. Amina's story did not end. [...] For when Amina chose to leave her home and return to a life at sea, she became more than a pirate. More than a witch. Gosh, there are so many great characters already and I can’t wait to dive deeper into the story. I am also very curious of Amina’s past and all her adventures and possible failures. I have traveled widely enough that I take everything written about “foreigners” with doubt and know better than to judge a community by their worst individuals.”

First of all, congratulations on the release of your brand-new, much-anticipated fantasy The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi! Can you tell our readers a little about what they can expect? i adored the time period, i loved the characters, i had a lot of fun with the plot, and i obsessed over the mythology of it all. this is an exceptional start to a series i fully expect to love. This is a hard question: they’re meant to work as a team! But the pragmatist in me says that Tinbu has the best shot of building a proper raft out of whatever we can cobble together. We might have no idea where we’re going , but he’s definitely the tinkerer out of the bunch and that seems like a solid survival bonus.

They come up with a rather dramatic charade that ends with them all in the prison. Well, that’s one way to get in I suppose. I do believe she was right to take the job, especially because of what it can bring for her family when she gets the reward. I also believe she took it not only because of the money, but because she loves the see and her ship. I do wonder if she should be more cautious. If someone is willing to pay that much and so little is known, I feel like it’s not the whole truth. I feel like there is more to the child being kidnapped and who’s behind it. Before we start, how are you all doing? I hope you had a wonderful weekend and got some reading and relaxing done.

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi was my first Chakraborty novel. I am so happy to have discovered her work. However, heist books often lose me, and this is above all, a heist. Don't you Six of Crows me. Amina is hired by a woman who claims her granddaughter has been kidnapped by a Frank. Are these Germans? I'm not good with this time period. It doesn't matter. Our hearts may be spoken for by those with sweet eyes, little smiles and so very many needs, but that does not mean that which makes us, us is g To put it even more simply: Mention the concept of "greek gods" to almost anyone on the street these days and they have the story already. They know the strokes, or they know at least several small details that have made it into their brain via cultural osmosis. Speaking of djinns and peri, I believe there were cameo appearances from the characters in The Daevabad Trilogy here. But again, I do not think it is a MUST to read The Daevabad Trilogy first before reading this book. The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi works really well as your first time reading Chakraborty's book, and more importantly, it is a great and fun start to a new trilogy. It is easily one of the most hyped new fantasy releases of 2023, with plenty of special editions published already. Although I had a few issues with this book, I am assured this won't be the last time I read a book by Chakraborty. On top of looking forward to reading the continuation of Amina al-Sirafi's infamous and scandalous tale, I feel more energized to read The Daevabad Trilogy now.It is not always easy to do the right thing, Amina al-Sirafi. More often than not, it is a lonely, thankless ordeal. That does not mean it is not worth doing.” I am intrigued and curious to see where the story will take us. I also hadn’t expected Amina to be a mom, but I really like the idea that it isn’t a younger adult in her twenties who goes on these adventures. of 5 stars 2 of 5 stars 3 of 5 stars 4 of 5 stars 5 of 5 stars The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty Our hearts may be spoken for by those with sweet eyes, little smiles and so very many needs, but that does not mean that which makes us, us is gone."
