About this deal

You have to give your drivetrain a really intensive clean before you switch from oil chain lubricants to wax We would recommend simply splitting chain lubricants into hot melt immersive waxes and drip lubricants. I.e lubricants that come out of a bottle as a liquid and go from there based on your requirements. Is it ok to use WD40 on my chain? Easier to maintain and time-saving - once you have fully degreased your drivetrain for the first application you no longer have to do this at all! You’ll have to agree though, it is worth it in the end, as you are repaid time and time again. Well, think of Squirt that way…at least in the dry.

Factory lube is anti corrosion as its main purpose, so it'll be better at keeping the chain none rusty, squirt is low friction main purpose not anti corrosion. If your happy with the factory lube all good Obviously, this will all depend on the conditions you ride in, but I'd say it's one of the most durable lubes I've used. Just dust if you must As far as possible that means recommending equipment that we have actually reviewed, but we also include products that are popular, highly-regarded benchmarks in their categories.PRSboy: Squirt seems to be the holy grail of lubes, as long as you don't mind reapplying after a wet ride. I've been most impressed.

Tell everyone what your GOTY is. Rather than the usual gear of the year thing, we want to know what you rate instead. Share in the comments what you've enjoyed using this year and recommend to other riders. If there are groups or events you want to recognise too, please fire them in as well. Squirt is a chain lubricant for cycling. It lubricates better, stays on the chain longer and keeps the chain clean. It is a wax based, long lasting dry lube that does not contain harmful solvents, is 100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly. With various waxes with unique properties, it is ideal for any cycling condition. It was developed to lubricate over longer distances and keep the chain clean, for both mountain biking and road cycling. The reason I stopped doing that was that the wax treatment only lasted a week or two unless topped up with some other wax lubricant (e.g. Smoove), so in the end I thought it was less trouble to just go with the pre-made lubricant.CeramicSpeed UFO All Conditions drip lubricant is the third generation of the UFO drip lube series. It's low wear and super fast, perfect for a race day chain or performance training and riding. If you really stay on top of chain maintenance this could be perfect for you. Argus Tuft replied to hawkinspeter: Ta HP - I found it worked as well as the bought stuff.I've moved on to using a home made "candle" of wax with a dash of grease applied to a chain freshly warmed with a heat gun. Any dirt seems to fall away. No cleaning required. Use a suitable heat shield between chain and wheel. The first time I tried wax I forgot to clean my cassette. It meant my chain was covered in a weird wax oil gunk within a few minutes of riding. That's a mistake you don't want to make twice!

No, though many riders do. Often, people will skip the degreasing step and just lube the chain, counting on the lube and subsequent wipe-down to remove mo As for Green Oil's claims of over 200 miles or 124 miles between applications, we found that after 100 miles of riding our chain was still running smoothly. BehindTheBikesheds replied to StraelGuy: Only a thousand miles, christ what are you riding through dust, dirt, mud, rain with road salt for good measure and not wiping post ride or any cleaning at all? new chain I just clean it and put on. Rewax after a wet ride. dry riding lasts for hundreds of mile 400+. it dose not work well in Jan and Feb in the uk ie very cold dry and salt, but they do have a low temp one which does work in the winter. when I started to use it the chain lasted about 200 more mile before needing replacing.I've now switched over to using DryFluid which is a special slide lubricant that although expensive lasts really well and is easy to apply and stays nice and clean. visionset: How many miles you get out of chain is irrelevent unless you also state oyur maintenance philosophy. If you are running the whole drive train into the ground (or at least cahin and cassette) you probably can get 10,000 miles out of it. No one is gonna be impressed with the shfiting on said drive train after say 3000 miles. Or alternatively you intend to keep your cassette throun many chains, and you can for probably 10 chains if you wear to 100.2% Yep that's just 0.2% of wear. equates to about 5mm of 'stretch'. Over this and you start to shag the cassette. If you are on Ultegra or better then the latter approach is cost effective and always a crisp change to boot.
