Essentially I was looking for a place to to compare the technical differences between the ones I already have, which I now realise are mainly Tikka+, and the ones I can currently buy so that I could buy something very similar or maybe a little bit better. If you get caught out in a shower, the Tactikka is rated IPX4, therefore it'll resist light to medium showers of rain before anything begins to pass through. It's water and weather resistant, basically.

Okay, two complaints. I’ve not had a problem yet, but I wish it was truly waterproof instead of just water-resistant. I'm looking to overhaul my lighting bag with a few spare Petzl torches for Alpine mountaineering, Scottish winter and general tent use. Most of the torches I have at the moment are TacTikka (I think) but they are getting on a bit. Our options for strategic lighting ranged from cheap “C” cell flashlights that always seemed to get water inside, guaranteeing their death by corrosion, or those six-volt “lanterns” that were about as big as a coffee can and came in all of the primary colors. It seems like I got a red one for several of my birthdays.
