About this deal

VINYL RECORD VINTAGE 33 rpm music album lp vtg mcm 12 inch 12" case cover 1960s Walt Disney Disneyland kids children songs Winnie Pooh Six 6 The first story is so odd about King John's Christmas. Poor Bad King John never getting any Christmas gifts. So sad. The ending was fun. I enjoyed CHERRY STones. That was fun. THE KNIGHT WHOSE ARMOR DIDN'T SQUEAK was a fun little story. THE CHARCOAL BURNER was a good bit of poetry. US TOO was a great little Pooh and Christopher story. Dorothy Parker, in her "Constant Reader" book review of The House at Pooh Corner in The New Yorker (20 October 1928).

Teddy Bear and Other Songs; & Fourteen Songs from When We Were Very Young; & ÂSongs from Now We are Six; Â3 volumes. Not a fan of this poetry collection. Perhaps it has too many kings and knights and less insight about the nature of children? Some extraneous Shepard illustrations of Pooh characters are shoehorned in to make it more palatable to Pooh fans, but the verse is not as lively or engaging as Milne's prose in the Pooh books. We started reading this at the breakfast table a couple of days after Grayson turned six. The boys loved it. Begging most meals for us to read it, we wouldn’t have gotten past Sneezles if I hadn’t insisted we push on. The giggles were grand and there was a lot of fun. We will have to revisit this every sixth birthday, and maybe more. So to make a short story long: a friend of my mother's, his mother died (may she rest in peace). And those people already had a lot of books so all the books of the mother are brought to them and they want to dispose of them, so he calls my mom, asking if I'm interested in books. Me assuming everything was in Dutch, I was not much up to it, but he told me that there were all sorts of books. So well why not, I came there expecting a few boxes with books, maximum up to 3 or so. There were seven of them and his wife wasn't allowed to keep any. So it was in the early morning that I spend through seven book boxes to find books I might like, I did like and that I did want to read and since everything would otherwise be gone, some books my friends might want. This humorous poem by A.A. Milne shows parents taking care of a child with a cold, but they are worrying about the symptoms turning into something worse. Christopher Robin, mentioned in this poem, was A.A. Milne’s son. Milne was the creator of Winnie the Pooh.

WINNIE THE POOH: COMPLETE COLLECTION - WINNIE THE POOH, HOUSE AT POOH CORNER, WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG, NOW WE ARE SIX

Like When We Were Very Young, this is also a terrific compilation. I love it when an adult can see through a child's eyes without losing his "adult-ness". Milne's poetry is simple and beautiful, and his humour can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. Some lovely poems and they were just as I imagine a child will mark his days by, but not very consistent.
