About this deal

The new rum combines natural ripe banana with toffee and offers tropical fruits and earthy notes on the nose. The pineapple-flavoured bottling is said to have hints of coconut, caramel and lime, and a nose of pineapple, coconut, and raisin ice cream. The palate delivers pineapple, caramel and cinnamon, followed by a finish of fruits and spiced oak. It is suggested to be consumed neat, over ice, or mixed with cranberry juice.

Langs Rum is a blend of Molasses-rich, pot and column distilled Jamaican rums from ex-bourbon American white oak casks. Now, with the arrival of some late summer sun, Langs Jamaican Rum is set to add to the area’s tropical resemblance by introducing a pop-up rum bar, launching on the beach’s shores from Saturday 19 September. Langs Jamaican Rum was originally imported in 1861 when it was brought to Glasgow from the Caribbean. The original recipe for Lang Bros Banana Rum was showcased at the Edinburgh international Exhibition in 1886. Langs Pineapple combines juicy pineapple with hints of coconut, caramel and lime, finishing mild and long with fruits and spiced oak.Aliquam id leo efficitur, ullamcorper ipsum vel, tincidunt mauris. Just as in whisky, ageing mellows and improves the taste of freshly distilled rum. While the rum matures in oak barrels, natural tannins in the wood impart a golden tint that yields to a rich brown cast after several years. Barbara Turing, innovation manager at Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “The rum boom continues to grow and is showing no signs of slowing down. Consumers are increasingly seeing rum as a category in which they can find exciting and sophisticated drinking experiences, so we felt this is the right time to revive a brand that fits perfectly with these trends. Our label displays our original import of 1861, as this was original launch date of Langs Banana Rum by the Langs Brothers in Glasgow. Our rum benefits from the best of both countries; the finest rum from Jamaica infused with natural banana flavour in Scotland. It’s a special relationship that’s created liquid sunshine in a bottle.” Free drinks for visitors

To celebrate its return this month, the banana flavoured rum is proving once more that you don’t need to make the 10,000-mile round-trip to Jamaica to enjoy the spirit of the Caribbean, with Camusdarach beach in Scotland an unexpected setting for its tropical launch. This is not where the story ends, however, as that would be incredibly anti-climactic. So, in 2020, Langs Banana Rum returned! Built around a base of aged and unaged Jamaican rum, produced in pot and column stills, and infused with natural fruit flavours, this is an enjoyably bright and funky spirit. Combining a flavourful core of aged rum from Barbados with hibiscus, orange blossom, and honeybush, Suncamino boasts layers of silky sweet caramel and floral fruits – plus the distinct character of the honeybush make this a unique little treat.

Family-owned Ian Macleod Distillers has revived Jamaican rum brand Langs with the launch of a banana-flavoured expression in the UK. Langs Banana Rum is the first flavoured rum in Ian Macleod’s portfolio Banana rum is a light rum that benefits from the sweet tropical flavor of banana. I prefer Kenny Chesney’s brand, Blue Chair Bay, for my liquor cabinet because it also contains toasted coconut and spices for a well-rounded flavor that’ll send your taste buds right to the beach. The Lang Brothers brand joined Ian Macleod Distillers’ portfolio in 2003 as part of the firm’s acquisition of Highland whisky distillery Glengoyne from Macallan owner Edrington. According to Ian Macleod, Langs Rum was no longer being sold by Edrington by that point. Langs Banana Rum is the first flavoured rum in Ian Macleod’s portfolio, which includes King Robert II Dark Rum and White Rum, and Watson’s Demerara and Trawler dark rums. A commonplace tipple of the ’20s, pineapple gin fell off the map and was lost to time for a while. That Boutique-y Gin Company has rescued it from that fate and given it a 21st century twist! Whole pineapples are roasted on a spit with Demerara sugar until they’re gloriously caramelised, and they’re then combined with a particularly bold gin, helping to cut through the sweet pineapple.
