About this deal

Don’t worry about all that Scottish rubbish; what about some lovely Isle of Dogs 12-year old malt? Hand-made with purest Thames Water.

It’s the journey, not the destination that shapes us. The path from our foundation to the revival of our distillery in 1963 has shaped the vibrant character of our tiny island community and the whisky we make.In the glass, Jura Journey is pale yellow. On the nose, it is light and herbaceous. Some soft notes of white grape and pear with a slight citrus touch. There is a sweet side full of vanilla and shortbread, with small flashes of peat smoke. Whisky starts basically clear and gets its colour from the wood of the casks it is matured in. If the distiller uses a batch of casks that don’t leach much colour the whisky may come out pale at bottling. Some of the better distillers e.g. Bruichladdich simply bottle the whisky pale. The alternative tends to be to add caramel to the whisky at bottling. This produces the rich colour many consumers want to see. Unfortunately it changes the taste of the whisky and in my view is the waste of a dram. Jura are pretty bad at doing this with their regular bottlings, and for that reason it is a poor malt. It's the journey, not the destination that shapes us. The path from our foundation to the rebirth of our distillery in 1963 has shaped character of our community and the whisky we produce. This road has led us to our own unique style. Matured in a American white oak ex-bourbon barrels for a sweet finish. The perfect introduction to the Jura range, Journey is light and fruity with a touch of gentle spice. A welcoming and enjoyable single malt. Although the large southern Hebridean island of Jura has always been sparsely populated, it has a fascinating distilling heritage. In the 18th century,it was reported that islanders made spirit from rowan berries, as well as using the bitter fruit to acidulate their whisky punch.

Jura Journey is the starting point of the new rage, a NAS scotch produced, as all the range, with a combination of peated and unpeated spirit that will give a slightly peated style. For Jura Journey, the whisky has been aged in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. It has been bottled at 40% abv, without chill-filtration and no added color. Why? Well, because after those initial heavy hitters, you’re treated to damp wood, buttery apples, toffee, nectarines, and smokey pears. Color It’s not only that the expressions changed, the whisky itself is now using a combination of peated an unpeated spirit across the entire lineup. No more exclusively unpeated or peated Jura in the core line up. It’s quite a bold move, ain’t it so? Soon after, hints of smokey pear and crisp green apples arrive. As you glide towards the finish, you’ll get some bitterness and oaky spice. It is a soft and sweet start that feels like toffee sauce, cloves, and nutmeg. For those who are letting each note wash over them, they’ll get subtle cocoa hits too. stone fruits and nuts in this; a bit of charred oak too. quite decent now and for price a very good whisky.. stars relate to quality at priceThese deliciously smooth and sweet Sherry finished whiskies offer global travelers the opportunity to taste our bright and lively whiskies finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks of varying ages. B and B-: Good and above average. The best of the mass market whiskeys fit in this category, as do the bulk of the premium brands. A B- is three stars. It began being sold as single malt in 1974, and the range has grown steadily since. The start of peating saw some smoky whisky being included in the no-age Superstition brand, launched in 2002, while a 100% smoked Prophecy was released in 2009. That is why they couldn’t choose a better name for the entry whisky of their new Signature Series range: Jura Journey. This small Scottish island is (in)famous for having just one road, one pub, one distillery, and a population of only 200. Deer outnumber people there.

Basil Hayden Malted Rye Whiskey Assessment - Tasty Bites Journey on Old Maysville Club Rye Whiskey Review Jura Journey is a simple and plain whisky, which is hard to go deeper. For the same price, you should find a handful of scotch (and non-scotch) whisky brands that will surely give you way more. The nose and the taste lineup. The taste starts with the soft peat smoke, and then the wave of vanilla washes over you. Finish: Medium length, gentle peat smoke, lingering oak spices bitterness, dryness, honey and bit of vanilla.

I bought some Islay once, a whole bottle of it. took me 3 years to get through it, if it had been purple I might have had a clue… So no more Origin (10 Year Old), Superstition, Diurach’s 16 Year Old and Prophecy. Instead we have a new line up consisting 5 new offers: Blade & Bow Helps With Placing Swank In Your Bourbon And Ponies - Tasty Bites Journey on A Bourbon Traveler’s Race Season GuideThe lactic vanilla is what makes this an obvious Jura, and the wood notes are the final nail in the coffin to identify this whiskey in their lineup. Laphroaig and Lagavulin are nothing like Jura other than being all called whisky, nor is Talisker. All of these are peaty and medicinal in character. Jura doesn’t use peat kilned malt and so is much mellower. Rumours that Red Bull Hardline will become a series have been roaming the internet corridors a while, so it's perhaps no surprise to have the official news: Hardline will have... It is whisky" is about as praiseworthy as I can be about the Jura Journey. I detected no smokiness and virtually no fruitiness. It falls between two stools and is overshadowed by both.
