About this deal

It's alsoan excellent TV forgaming due to its very goodmotion handling, so there's very little blur behind fast-moving objects. It has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on two of its HDMI ports, meaning it can take full advantage of the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles and even high-end PCs with up to 4k @ 144Hz support. Finally, it has low input lag and supports every variable refresh rate (VRR)technology, ensuring a responsive, nearly tear-free gaming experience. With 4K Blu-ray content the Hisense stretches its legs. It doesn’t have a native 10-bit panel commonly used for HDR, instead employing 8-bit + FRC– a form of dithering that cycles between different colours with each new frame to match the colour range of a 10-bit panel – and results are pretty good. Gaming is also well catered for with two HDMI 2.1 inputs compatible with 4K/120, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). If you're on a tighter budget, the Hisense U6/U6Koffers great value compared to similarly-priced models from other brands. Unlike the Hisense U7K and Hisense U8/U8K, you aren't getting the same high-end features and performance, but it's still quite decent. It uses the same quantum dot technology, which means it displays a wide range of colors and has remarkable pre-calibration accuracy, so you won't have to get it calibrated to get accurate colors. Connect your TV to your home network via Wi-Fi to start enjoying everything at your fingertips. Apps on the 55U8HQTUK include Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Apple TV, BBC iPlayer, and many more. If you’d prefer, Freeview Play is also built into this model, giving you access to over 40,000 hours of on-demand TV as well as 700 boxsets. There’s something for the whole family with Hisense.

Assembly isn’t too laborious. Start with the various parts of the stand (which should be screwed in all at once), slot it into the main body, tighten the screws and attach a panel to cover it up. There’s a cable clutter feature for routing cables through the bottom of the rear panel and out through the stand.

Like other sets with Google TV, you can use Chromecast built-in to cast content from compatible apps to the TV from a phone or tablet. Bluetooth audio streaming is also supported, but there’s no Bluetooth output for listening with wireless headphones. Gaming is well catered for with two HDMI 2.1 inputs compatible with 4K/120, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). The smart TV system is powered by VIDAA U6.0 from Hisense and features Freeview Play with all the catch-up terrestrial services including BBC iPlayer, plus, it also features the major VOD apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+ and a whole host of others such as Pluto, Rakuten and so on. The yellows and oranges of the flames in the burning lab fight scene are bright and vibrant, with nicely varied highlights against fairly dark, though not inky, shadow details.By and large the Hisense U8Q is an attractive-looking set. Available in 55- and 65-inch models, the bezel is unobtrusive, and the build quality is what I’d call robust. From the V-shaped pedestal – which unless you have a compact soundbar does restrict placement of sound systems in front of the TV – to the fetching material that covers the integrated front-firing speakers, the U8Q is a well put-together set. The U8H uses an increasingly common TV design, in which a thin metallic band runs along the sides and across the top of the screen, while a wider, brushed metallic strip serves as the bottom bezel. It’s a simple, classy look that the Hisense U6H, the Vizio M50QXM-K01, and a variety of other TVs share. The bottom bezel sports a chrome Hisense logo in the middle, a trapezoidal protrusion for the infrared sensor, a power button, Google Assistant indicator lights, and a far-field microphone array complete with a mute switch. The TV stands on two long, thin metal feet and has standard VESA screw holes for wall mounting. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits)

The TV is also quite responsive. Using an HDFury Diva HDMI matrix, we measured an input lag of 8.1ms in Game mode. That falls under the 10ms threshold we use to determine if a TV is among the best for gaming. Predictably, with Game mode off, that input lag jumps to 86.5ms. Watching a more familiar test disc for color, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, the psychedelic palette of the scenes that take place on Ego’s home planet were rendered in a clean, yet fully saturated way. The few human faces revealed natural-looking skin tones, and the U8H’s combination of powerful brightness and well-modulated contrast could be appreciated in the overall dynamic and vibrant quality of images. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) The viewing angles of the U8QF are not great but are as expected from this type of LCD TV and when watching from the dead centre the image quality is good. We found that over 20 degrees off-axis iswhere the main gamma and colour shifts start to become very noticeable, so bear that in mind if your viewing room has seats that are off to the sides.Hisense's U8H has a Filmmaker mode that provides mostly accurate pictures straight out of the box. (Image credit: Future) Hisense U8H review: picture quality If you are looking for an everyday living room workhorse that has good gaming performance, nice design and decent SDR and HDR viewing in a bright, normal living room, then the Hisense U8QF is a compelling proposition. What is the Hisense U8H?

Motion was decent on the U8QF with no noticeable induced judder with 24fps material when Ultra Smooth Motion was switched off and applying pulldown. We also noted some obvious motion trailing behind objects and other artefacts with some fast-moving material. When using the Ultra Smooth Motion settings you see soap opera effect from the interpolation straight away and, as you apply higher settings, image artefactssuch as false edges, trailing edges and image break up around fast-moving objects become much more noticeable. There are custom controls for Blur and Judder which you can experiment with for sports or other video content with fast movement, but for film and drama, we recommend switching it to off. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits)
