Description

The strap is made of the same resin as the watch head. It’s a soft resin that is pretty flexible and gets even more flexible the more you wear it. In the Alarm Mode, press (D) to scroll through the alarm screens until the one whose time you want to set is displayed.

In the list of 48 cities (plus UTC), three cities have been changed. Miami, Toronto, and Santiago were sacrificed, while Kathmandu, Buenos Aires, and Fernando de Noronha were added. Here the first and last are the most important because they led to the availability of two additional time zones. Katmandu lives at GMT +5 3/4 of an hour, and Fernando de Noronha at GMT -2 hours. Both time zones were not available in the old module and made the total number of different time zones grow to 31 in the new one. Countdown start time setting range: 1 minute to 24 hours (1-minute increments and 1-hour increments)The world-time mode directly shows another important improvement of the new module. During the use of a second time-zone in world-time mode, the original home time of the watch remains visible in the display as well. A very useful, almost indispensable function when traveling. In the old module, the abbreviation of the chosen city remained visible (like NYC), but where you are will be something you’ll remember yourself and hasn’t to be kept in the display in my opinion. This feature, of permanent availability of the home time in the display, shows in the stopwatch and timer mode as well. Stopwatch This might be caused by exposure to a magnetic field. It can be solved by a demagnetisation process performed by a professional watchmaker. The resin housing is the ideal everyday companion. It is durable, lightweight and relatively insensitive to cold, heat or other external influences. With the new module, 1/100 of a second is only available for the first hour (59′ 59” 99”’), thereafter the maximum accuracy is one second.”

After you select an alrm, hold down (A) until the hour setting of the alarm time starts to flash, which indicates the setting screen.

I just had a look in the manual of the Junghans Max Bill Mega Solar, and indeed that watch sports the Kathmandu timezone as well. Of course, when every single function of the watch is enabled, it can become a bit cluttered (you’ll have an indication for power saving, radio controlled timekeeping, auto illumination, daylight saving time and tone off). But still, these indicators don’t get in the way of the all-important information for each function and mode of the watch. Functions 12 hours counter / 24 hours counter / Alarm / date / day date / hour / Minute / second / Stop-second / Timer m of water resistance, which is not always the case on all electronic watches (just don’t wear your watch in the shower, better safe than sorry). Meaning you can ash your hand, swim and dive with this one no problem.

These “U” series models feature an updated module with an LED light and enhanced functions compared to the previous GW-M5610 module. Other major features include Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 auto radio time sync, and 200 meter water resistance. Is it clear?– it should be easy to “get” the design and to read the time. Here, some watches with a crowded dial can still qualify if the design is perfect.AM stands for Ante Meridiem and indicates that the time is before midday. PM stands for Post Meridiem and indicates that the time is past midday. Elapsed time, split time and final time are measured with 1/100-sec accuracy. The watch can measure times of up to 24 hours. It’s an easy conclusion that the new 3495 module is quite a step up from its ancestor, the 3159. For Europeans, the possibility to show the date in DD/MM format will be most welcome, plus the one that’s – in regular time-keeping mode –permanently visible. But for others, the feature to show the watch’s home time in the world time and other modes might be the most important update. Technical amendments and errors excepted. The sizes in figures do not correspond to the original sizes. What we like in GW-M5610 *comments by experts with 10years experience in writing about Casio watches

I have to say I’m firmly in the camp that the 3495 is a huge improvement over the previous modules. I wasn’t even interested in one of the Squares until I discovered Casio had upgraded the module. Auto receive up to six* times a day (remaining auto receives canceled as soon as one is successful)

From GW-M5610 to GW-M5610U

The dial is busy. That's what we expect from this kind of digital watch. But this one is not as busy as some. There is a lot of writing around the LCD screen. It says protection as another nod to the original. It mentions the multi-band 6 atomic timekeeping, water resistance and identifies the buttons. But the display itself is reasonably clutter free and very easy for navigation. Conclusion Countdown start time setting range: 1 second to 24 hours (1-second increments, 1-minute increments and 1-hour increments) Case size:43 mm case width (including protrusions), 33 mm height (only taking the bezel into account) Definitely, the Katmandu time zone of GMT +5 3/4 hour is a nice one. I’ve never seen a watch sporting this rare time-zone offset.” The initial GW-M5610U-1 was only released in Japan and Europe, so it seems unlikely that the GW-M5610U-1C and GW-M5610U-2 will get a wider release that that. The GW-M5610U-1CJF and GW-M5610U-2JF will be released in October 2021 in Japan with a retail tax-included price of 22,000 yen each.
