the GPU averaged 21º when using it to render instead, which is tied for the best result on the chart with the Lancool 2 Mesh and the P500A digital. GPU temperatures were good in the original [torture] test, but the firestrike and blender tests show that when loading the GPU in isolation, the Torrent excels" In his nonexistent spare time Sebastian's hobbies include hi-fi audio, guitars, and road bikes. Currently investigating time travel. Any high GPU temp, or high discrepancy between GPU and CPU temps you see in GamersNexus results for a case does not in any way mean that that is the best that case can do, or that it's immutable. There is room to lower GPU temps by 3-10 degrees in almost any situation, and only with soft modding without altering the case permanently.

The 180mm fans are shelf-surfers, for now... I think they are rated 50-150CFM whereas the 140mm are rated 30-110CFM, so the total volume is more or less the same, with a theoretically increased static pressure. While moving their PSU mounts to the top of the enclosure will be seen as a controversial decision, you will see for yourself that this choice has a huge impact on the Torrent’s airflow and cooling performance. I won’t quite say that I have grown tired of companies taking the safe route by slapping a fine mesh front panel on cases. But I admire creativity, which is what Fractal has brought to airflow-focused cases. Not only does the front panel look good, but it also performs really well, without even adding an exhaust fan.

The Torrent Compact does technically allow for E-ATX motherboards. However, be prepared to lose out on some cable routing options if you go that route, as larger boards end up covering a portion of the routing grommets. And as we’ll see later, cable routing space is already scarce. If you want to use a large motherboard, you should opt for the larger original Torrent, or another large case instead. The Fractal Design Torrent Case is an interesting case and I can see a lot of potentials as far as Modding goes. What I see here is a large case that has removable panels on each side with clear tempered glass on the side. The bottom front and top bezels of this case are all made from the same ABS plastic material. The finish of the plastic is not smooth but rather matte. Being white, everything that touches this case will leave a mark. So if you plan to use this case for Modding I would recommend painting it or at least clear coating the bezels. If you are extremely careful with the case then you would not have to worry about blemishes or marks. The side panels on the Torrent Compact are held on via magnets that do a good job when your system is stationary. But I wouldn’t trust them staying in place if you’re moving this case around. You can screw the panels in on top of the case, which I had to do for the rear/right side panel, to hold the cable bulk in.

in/out on top" was poor phrasing to describe "having the AIO radiator tubes at the top" (like in the picture) which I understood could leave some air trapped in the top on the radiator making some noise. Then, maybe it's useless worries on my side, feel free to point that out. But yeah too many fans in general, and too many bottom fans with weak static pressure is not ideal and messes with the airflow.Since Intel’s 12 Gen “Alder Lake” has shaken up the desktop landscape (and taken prominent spots on our best CPUs for gaming list), we’ve updated our case testing hardware. We’re now using an Intel i7-12700KF, which is being cooled by a Noctua U12s air cooler. Our graphics card is a Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti Gaming OC. It seems appropriate to plug the AIO fan into the AIO fan header of your MoBo but there is a single AIO cable to manage both the pump and the radiator fans, I think Arctic (AIO builder) recommends using the CPU fan header. It would be interesting to see how cases compare to open bench with the same acoustic and thermal tests. I'm well aware. I believe it's better to be moving hot air out just as fast as pushing cooler air in. Mixing cool air with the hot will not produce optimal results.

Since you don’t have the option to mount a radiator to the top of the case (remember, that’s where the PSU lives), you’re limited to impractical mounting options for liquid cooling, either in the front of the case or at the bottom. We couldn’t fit our EK 240mm D-RGB AIO in the front since we’re using a Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti Gaming OC, which is 12.5 inches (320 mm) long. I even tried mounting the AIO first, then installing the GPU, but that didn’t work either. The Torrent is a high-performance PC case designed entirely around the objective of delivering the highest possible airflow out-of-the-box with conflict-free support for high-end hardware with unconventionally large cooling solutions. Open layout with expansive base intakes and extra-large bottom fan support offers exceptional GPU cooling CPU heat-sink height clearance is about 209mm. (to the glass). The recommended CPU cooler’s max height is 188mm.

Bad Move, Microsoft...

Seamless tempered glass panels (on TG models) with bolt-free top-latching mechanisms for easy handling Should I try to match both of sets of 3 - 140mm fans against similar fan curves ? maybe on the same fan hub ? Will be running some tests when the system is up and running. Also still considering adding 3 extra noctua fans for a push-pull configuration on the radiator. Like your current setup, I only have 2 140mm fans at the bottom, as the tubes/hoses from the AIO and the radiator is obstructing the last slot.

Alongside their new Torrent case, Fractal has released an update for their existing Ion Platinum series of power supplies. These new PSU models comply with the new ATX 2.52 standard and all ship with two 8-pin ATX12/EPS connectors and enhanced over-current protection. Sandwiching fans are a mix between AIO and case fans, AIO has its dedicated fan curve maybe I will have to match both fan curve since the radiator will be in and "air tight" sandwich The acoustic results of the Torrent Compact are awe-inspiring. As you can see in our chart, the 180 mm fans on the Torrent Compact do a great job at minimizing sound while providing more airflow than a 120 or 140 mm spinner would. When we cranked the fan speeds up, it's obvious that the larger surface area of the fans is going to make more noise than smaller 120 or 140 mm fans. The thing is, as you’ll see next in our thermal tests, there’s no need to turn the fans up that high. i have a problem with this guess. the augment here is the o11 XL vs the torrent and gpu temps. both case intake from the bottom but the 011xl the front intake as to do a 90 degree well the torrent dose not have to do that so...the torrent should win the cpu cooling test.Up to 360x120/280x140 mm (360 mm front radiators (push / push-pull) supported up to a max length of 403 mm)
