Deadly Cross by James Patterson | Waterstones

Also, I have been under the impression that there ARE Cross novels that precede “Along Came a Spider”. This could be read as a stand-alone book but you’d get more out of it if you’ve been following the series. This time Alex is drawn into investigating a double murder, made all the more difficult by one of the deceased being the ex Vice President and someone that Alex knew. Add to that young girls being abducted and murdered, and it makes for a very fast paced read. Another book that I was really sorry to finish, I just didn’t want it to end. The author eventually decided to move to New York and worked for an advertising agency as a junior copywriter. The North American company would eventually see Patterson become its CEO. While he was working there in 1976, the author saw his debut novel published. The Thomas Berryman Number was initially turned down on the behalf of no less than 31 publishers but went on to win praise and an Edgar Award. While John Sampson of DC Metro Police investigates the last movements of Christopher Randall, the educator killed along with Kay Willingham, detective Alex Cross and FBI special agent Ned Mahoney find unanswered questions from Willingham's past, before she arrived in DC and became known in DC society as someone who could make things happen. They travel to Alabama to investigate Kay's early years. There they find a world of trouble, corruption, and secrets, all of them closed to outsiders like Cross and Mahoney.I have read many of James Paterson’s “Alex Cross” books but have completely stopped because there are too many books with his name on them. It is one thing to sponsor or recommend a new author but to have them write and then take credit for their work is just wrong. Reply Along Came a Spiderkiller Gary Soneji has been dead for over ten years. Alex Cross watched him die. But today, Cross saw him gun down his partner. Is Soneji alive? A ghost? Or something even more sinister? Detective Cross (2017) Detective Alex Cross is thrust into a perilous situation as a skilled sniper targets Washington’s corrupt elite. Was an innocent man just put to death? As the executed convict’s family launch a vicious campaign against Cross, his abilities as a detective are called into question. Following the assassination of two highly corrupt politicians by the sniper, Cross is summoned to take charge of the investigation.

So, we start with the death of the wife of the current vice president, shot dead in a car along with a politically active school principal. Both have lead, shall we say, interesting lives so initially it is unclear who was the main victim and who collateral damage. Sampson and Alex split up. Sampson following up Randall Christopher and Alex, along with FBI Special Agent Mahoney, concentrate on Kay Willingham. As two prominent figures are found murdered Alex and his team must pull all their resources together to solve the crime, while also working on other cases at the same time. The main case is mostly slow and thorough detective work, interspersed with some high action, mainly in the second half of the book. Any issues with the book list you are seeing? Or is there an author or series we don’t have? Let me know!

Alex Cross is preparing to resign from the Washington Police Force. He’s enjoying the feeling; not least because the Mastermind is now in prison. And Alex has met a woman, Jamilla Hughes, and he is talking about the future. Then John Sampson shows up at the house, desperate for Alex’s help. Three young military wives have been brutally killed during a ‘girls’ night out’ and Sampson’s friend, a master sergeant at the army base, stands accused. I love morgan freeman as alex cross. I listen to them in the car traveling. I love james patterson books and my child read his younger age books Reply In another aside, there’s some nutcase who is going around shooting DC politicians in the ass (literally) and Bree is having a tough time explaining to Metro Police Commissioner Dennison why, she’s unable to prevent and catch the perpetrator. So in essence, there are three mysteries to solve and Alex Cross is requested to assist in all three by Bree and also the VP – for his ex-wife’s murder. Alex has a personal connection to Kay (the VP’s ex-wife), who he’s known for many years. Kay was not just known for her socialite status, but for also being a conscientious person with a heart of gold! No one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which Jim has, in spades. The Alex Cross series proves it.' Lee Child A double homicide brings Murder close to Alex Cross - he knew both victims, a wealthy socialite and a school principal. But is the murder political? Kay Willingham was the ex wife of the USA’s deputy president, and Randolph Christopher was starting his political journey with big dreams ahead. Is there more to the shootings and robberies?

Can you believe this is the 28th Alex Cross novel? I can't. It seems like only yesterday I was reading Along Came A Spider and although I've maybe missed a few Cross thrillers along the way, I love dipping into this so familiar series and getting my fix of the lovely Cross family. ya Denzel but Idris Elba would be even better and more fit like Alex cross.. and can act too. Denzel ofcourse can act but Idris would be a gr8 Alex cross 100 Reply
