About this deal

Riden doesn’t return to the room until late, thinking she’s already asleep. He can tell she wants him to go to sleep, which makes him suspicious. She finally has to sing her siren song to make him obey. She learns what he wants in life is love and acceptance. Then she makes him forget it all happened. Alosa feels a burn in her chest and needs to be replenished. Only the ocean can do it. And then it always tries to get her to give in to it, which she can’t risk right now. She’s mostly human, but her mother was a siren. It should not be this difficult to stay prisoner on a pirate ship. This is the second time I’ve had to stage my own capture. Ridiculous. This was the first time I've stayed up late to finish a book in a while 😅 It was completely accidental, but I really enjoyed the story and couldn't put it down so here we are 🤷 This seems to keep happening to me with pirate books! You wouldn’t give a second thought to a couple of men aboard your ship behaving in such a way or talking such talk. You do not get to judge us more harshly for being women. It’s not fair, and it doesn’t make sense. Not to mention I’ll throw your arse overboard if I catch you doing it again.” And Riden. A definite swoon worthy love interest. I loved the parts that had both Alosa and Riden together and it gave me so many warm feelings... *sighs*

I adored Alosa! She is so spirited and she is a fighter. She has been hardened by her father's tutelage, and she proves herself to be a capable and clever pirate, over and over. She's a fierce and wonderful heroine, and she relies on no one to save her but herself. This book has a light and fun current to it, but it's also incredibly empowering and feminist in a subtle way. The only reasons I'm not giving this 5 stars is because I missed some world building (which I guess is due to most of the story taking place on a ship), because I felt like some parts of the end were a little rushed and also because their age bothered me a lot in the beginning. I get that it's young adult, but two of the most feared ships are not only captained by young people, but the whole crew consists of people under the age of 20? Their age also made some of the content a little cringe-worthy. I value other traits above an affinity for torture and power over those weaker than oneself. I value brilliant minds, honest souls, and those with long endurance. I forge relationships based on trust and mutual respect, not fear and control.” Thinking that they’d go and have some fun, several men jumped overboard, including her father. But instead of the women fleeing, screaming to get away, it was the men who shrieked until their heads disappeared below the water’s surface.

Like I said: I love the main character Alosa. She is well-trained, intelligent and has a big mouth aka is a sassy badass. Daughter of the Siren Queen is the sequel to Daughter of the Pirate King. We continue to follow Alosa and Riden as Alosa explores her powers and discovers dark secrets about her family as she struggles with her growing feelings for Riden.... Me : yeah, but I couldn't help to expect great things about this book. The synopsis sounded like something I would love AND THERE WAS ALSO SLOW BURN ROMANCE AND ENEMY TO LOVER TROPE. After having recovered all three pieces of the map, all is set for the big fleet to set out for the legendary Siren island and the promised treasure.

The writing style is engrossing, it makes readers want to read their eyes out. The same kind of effect that took toll on me. I liked reading the growth that occurred in her characterisation throughout the story. The characters are not perfect, they make mistakes and foolish choices throughout the course of the story, which makes the story all the more natural and enjoyable. The myth of the Sirens is essential to the plot. Princess Alosa's prized books do double duty as hiding places for weapons. This was a lot of fun!! 🤩🤩 once again I FLEW through it and ended up thinking it was a great conclusion to the series! Really enjoyable 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️💗💗 I’m super curious about Sorinda and Kearan, wish there was another book out there I could read more about them, especially Sorinda. I really want a love story for them. The first power is an effect of her song. "[She] can enchant men to do essentially anything, so long as it doesn’t defy the laws of nature." She can only enchant three men at a time. She is only able to influence the mind with her song. This includes the ability to alter memories, show illusions, take away pain, and create fake pain.

And, most importantly, do you like your books uplifting, of the put-a-huge-grin-on-your-face variety? I may not have been born in the sea, but I was born to rule it. I am the daughter of the siren queen." Either of those two examples would be prime candidates for nemesis status. But still I held out. I think a girl always wants her first time to be with someone special. Unfortunately, we did not have a pirate at the helm (hehehe). We had Alosa. And therefore our roster of activities looked a lot more like this: complimenting self, gazing lustily, telling not showing, thinking about the abstract concept of coming up with a plan but deciding not to, cutting scenes right when they get interesting, complimenting self more, and more, and more. First, can we talk about how refreshing it was to have a female character that wasn't all afraid to kill someone? I'm honestly tired of characters saying they are "assassins" even though they never kill anyone. Alosa was not like that. When she killed those men without flinching I was like DANG GIRL. I LIKE YOU. Ha-ha, now in real life please realize I would not react this way if I saw a murder taking place - but because this was a book character, I loved it.I value brilliant minds, honest souls, and those with long endurance. I forge relationships based on trust and mutual respect, not fear and control."

I may not have been born in the sea, but I was born to rule it. I am the daughter of the siren queen.” The plot is nice and well written, even though it is standard and some parts were predictable. Still, I enjoyed the many plot twists there were in this story, and even though I knew that there would be betrayals, I couldn't figure out who would betray who. I was really engaged in this story and I just couldn't stop reading it!I finished this one last night and I have to say that I really love this series overall - even though I wish there had been more with the sirens in this one? 🏴‍☠☠️⚓🧜
