About this deal

Hi Kyla, it’s really up to you. I’ve been working on both and there is more ease to using the Unusual Pear’s loom since it’s made for weaving use, but to be honest I felt like that embroidery hoop wasn’t much harder. Also those embroidery hoops are so inexpensive, that you could just finish your weave on the hoop, which is always nice. So I would say if you’re in the market for another loom, then buy the circular loom. If not then you can still enjoy circular weaving with the hoop 🙂 In a previous post, I showed how to warp a loom for circular weaving ( post 1 and post 2). Since then I’ve been working at it and trying to figure out what works best for me. One thing I’ve found to be interesting is the large warp clump in the middle. As you know, with a normally warped lap loom, there is no over lapping of warp threads. So the thing I found myself doing was wondering how can I weave to take away from the clump and make it less noticeable. And actually I like the look of the middle, but I don’t want it to be so apparent.

A power loom is a loom powered by a source of energy other than the weaver's muscles. When power looms were developed, other looms came to be referred to as handlooms. Most cloth is now woven on power looms, but some is still woven on handlooms. [43] Above: Here there was not enough warp to tie the ends of the weaving. Therefore wrapping the warp around the entire loom will give enough warp waste to tie the ends. Now, if you plan to keep the weaving on the loom, then you can wrap the warp around the tabs. Oh cool! And actually you probably don’t even have to do the cross-over thingy. It might make the middle of your weave look different, but that’s not a bad thing 😉

There are two secondary motions, because with each weaving operation the newly constructed fabric must be wound on a cloth beam. This process is called taking up. At the same time, the warp yarns must be let off or released from the warp beams. To become fully automatic, a loom needs a tertiary motion, the filling stop motion. This will brake the loom if the weft thread breaks. [4] An automatic loom requires 0.125hp to 0.5hp to operate.
