We here at ILoveGin are such super fans of Italian brand Malfy … we have featured all four of the gins below in our boxes but we just can’t decide which is our favourite! What do you think? I was crushing on Gray Whale Gin long before ever trying the spirit, just after one look at that gorgeous blue bottle. I was already a fan of some other small-batch craft gins distilled in the U.S., but I was particularly intrigued by this gin's unconventional botanicals as well as the brand's incredibly rad, eco-friendly mission. As well as the gin's well-balanced flavours we love the bottle's design. It's heavy, substantial and makes a good clunk as you place it on the counter - not forgetting the satisfying pop of the stopper.

After 120 years of distilling whisky, Benromach Distillery in Speyside turned their hand to gin in July 2018. Taking its name and bottle design from the distinctive doors on the distillery, it makes for a striking red bottle. Brooklyn Gin is a staple in many UK supermarkets with its irregular shape and turquoise glass. In the centre is its bronze logo emblazoned like a medal. It’s modern and cool, and the green/aquamarine colours of the bottle mirror the forest and the sea, from which they get their signature botanicals. This is a double-distilled gin produced in a two-stage distillate . Juniper, coriander, angelica, licorice root, cassia bark, Florentine iris, and lime peel are introduced in the first distillation. Bitter orange peel, lemon peel, and lime peel in the second. It is finished with Icelandic glacial water and bottled at a standard 40 percent ABV (80 proof).

This brings us to my newest drink crush: Gray Whale Gin. Distilled in California by Golden State Distillery, Gray Whale takes us on a wild, windows-down kind of ride down the Pacific Coastline, as each bottle is made with a blend of six sustainably sourced California botanicals: juniper, lime, fir tree, almonds, mint, and sea kelp.
