In 1930s Italy, Alfonso Bialetti invented a brewing system that revolutionized the process of domestic coffee brewing throughout Italy and soon the rest of the world. Based on his observations of Italian laundry equipment at that time, Bialetti imagined a brewing system that brewed coffee by passing pressurized boiling water through ground coffee. The result was the iconic Bialetti Moka Pot or Bialetti percolator, patented in 1933 and still in use globally today.In general, my impression of the 2020 models is very disappointing. It is no more than a partial re-design of previous models and a marketing move. I know this sounds like a serious claim, but reviewing this design leaves me no doubt it was designed that way in purpose. The drawing (as I understand it) suggests it uses 120 ml. of water for the 2 cup model to produce 100 ml. of Moka which somehow turns into 15ml. in the cup. Keep in mind, how you spread out your coffee consumption over the day matters. If you want to drink a cup in the morning and one in the afternoon, it’s better to make fresh coffee at both times. So, in that case you only need a single cup moka pot.
