The BC26R churns out an impressive 1,600 lumens with a claimed 65-hour run time — though that’s on its lowest 50-lumen setting. At full power, riders will have approximately 3.5 hours of run time. Charging time is slightly longer than other lights at 4 hours via USB-C cable, but that doesn’t take away from its excellent battery system. Battery life depends on many factors including the type of battery, the type of LEDs in the light, and the light’s settings. With a 544-foot forward output and a 100-foot wide beam, the BC26R is equally at home on mountain, road, gravel, touring, and commuter bikes. Runtimes are good for such compact units and we got just under 1.5 hours for the front and 4.5 hours for the rear. The lights switch automatically to a lower output to preserve battery and give you an additional 30 minutes or so runtime. The Moon Cerberus is worth considering if you own a variety of bikes with different seat posts. The innovative hinged wings used to mount the light make it exceptionally versatile, though it might not be the most stable.It’s a beautifully made light, if expensive, although there are lower-priced options that don’t include the AKTiv tech.

The unit itself is compact and fits a wide range of seatpost styles thanks to the included assortment of seatpost adaptors. On paper, Topeak’s Redlite Aero 1W is nothing remarkable, but it’s always the one that’s ready to go and has never failed us out on a ride. Three powerful LEDs make up the lighting array for this light. CatEye has incorporated good lensing and a nice clear case allowing for viewing angles of 300 degrees - so no blind spots for tailing drivers. Not that it comes on all too regularly, but the light also features a low battery light in the function button so you can see when a charge is needed.

The light is beautifully made and it comes with a CNC machined alloy mount. The downside is it is heavy and takes up a lot of room on your handlebar. For easily dimming the light while riding, a handy wired remote button allows you to change modes without having to move from your riding position on the handlebar.The Vortex consistently charges from flat in about four hours – more than the claimed 3.4hrs – via the supplied USB C cable. That it has a yellow trim is great - it stands out from all the other charging cables, and helps you avoid taking the wrong one.
