English, English SDH†, Chinese - Cantonese - Hong Kong, Chinese - Mandarin - Simplified - PRC, Chinese - Mandarin - Traditional, Czech, Danish, Finnish, French -Canadian, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese - European, Romanian, Slovakian, Spanish - Castilian, Spanish - Latin American Swedish, Thai The original Top Gun is not as fantastic of a movie on a narrative level, but it was impressive for its time and remains an enjoyable movie for first-time viewers, with attractive visuals, awesome sound design, and great character moments. The audio is immersive and dynamic even with a pair of good headphones and a decent bass threshold. We tested on a pair of Apple AirPods Max, Bose, and Sony studio monitors and all sounded great. Of course, you don’t get that full spatial effect that happens in a controlled area with multiple speakers in surround sound positions.

Take the above comparison screengrabs for example but with a huge grain of salt: the top from the 4K Ultra HD disc and the bottom from the 30th Anniversary Blu-ray Edition. Although both pictures were taken directly from the discs on a professionally calibrated system, seeing the images at their full HDR/WCG potential will depend on the capabilities of each viewer's screen. Nevertheless, the two images allow for just enough visible information to reflect the experience at home and be able to note the difference in contrast and the improvement in the overall color palette and timing. Hell, even as CG effects improved, fighter plane movies were basically non-existent ( Stealth's a boat-load of flashy fun, but also a Box Office bomb that only further nailed this coffin), leaving Top Gun the defining movie for four decades, and many generations of viewers, becoming so mythical that nobody would even want to try to go near it. The original Top Gun got a pretty nice upconversion here, I feel. Film grain is kept to a fair minimum, it's definitely sharper than I remember from the Blu-Ray cut, and it's brighter than before. Overall, worth the extra money for the 4k. Lo malo es la tendencia de Paramount al ya no incluir Blu Ray 1080p cómo los demás, solo conseguirás dos discos 4k y una copia digital casi inútil pues, no es compatible con movies anywhere. Finally, it must be said that these are the best scenes of flying ever captured on film. The tour de force climax of the movie leaves viewers emotionally exhausted with giant grins and cheering for more. It ranks up there with the best action sequences in all of film. I'm not going to review the movies here. Someone else has already done that, I imagine. I'm only commenting on the 4K experience. A much shorter version of this was featured on The Late Late Show with James Corden. It’s certainly entertaining, so while it doesn’t make or break these extras, it’s nice to have. But an audio commentary is something this film really deserves, and one would hope that a future release might include it.Masterclass with Tom Cruise– Cruise and selected cast members discuss the project as well as Cruise’s filmography. English, English SDH†, Chinese-Cantonese-Hong Kong, Chinese-Mandarin-Simplified-PRC, Chinese-Mandarin-Traditional-Taiwan and for Singapore, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French-Parisian, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese-Brazilian, Portuguese-European, Romanian, Russian, Spanish-Castilian, Spanish-Latin American, Swedish, Thai Music Videos (HD, 7 min) feature a pair of songs, starting with Lady Gaga performing "Hold My Hand" and the second with Onerepublic performing "I Ain't Worried." As with previous lossless mixes, much of the design is a front-heavy presentation, but rear activity comes alive during the dogfights, expanding the soundfield with the noise of F-14s screaming in the surrounds and echoing through the overheads. There are a couple moments when the jetplanes distinctly fly above the listening area and into view, but ultimately, the top heights do a majority of the leg work in widening and heightening the action. The real winner, in the end, are the memorable songs, filling not only the entire soundscape but also subtly bleeding into the sides and overheads for a satisfyingly good time. (Dolby Atmos Audio Rating: 80/100) Beautiful steelbook! Lovely glossy colours and really well chosen pictures to use. The film moments chosen are just a few of the shots that made the audience gasp in the cinema, as you can fully see Mr Cruise is once again, DOING the flying for REAL! The film itself is brilliant and I honestly thought “how can it live up to all the hype?!” Trust me, it does! There’s a reason it’s now amoung the ranks of highest grossing movies ever, it brought a lot of joy to people during the pandemic and especially those 80s kids like me who grew up loving the original! Even if not a big fan of the first movie, I’d put money on the fact you’ll enjoy this one more. Fantastic looking steelbook which looks even better next to the first ones equally beautiful 4K steelbook! I actually prefer the colours used on the Zavvi exclusive over other releases. Grab one if you get the chance!

It was filmed in the modern digital era, so a 4k release was always on the table. I never saw it in the theaters, so I can't say if this was the original way of things... but all the fighter plan sequences are in 16:9 and the rest of the film is in 2.35:1. I found this somewhat distracting, and I really don't know exactly why they made this choice. La verdad en cuanto a historia, no se me hizo nada extraordinario. Me pareció que la idea era simplemente revivir la nostalgia de la primera película. Pricing for the 4K SteelBook Superfan Collection has not been confirmed yet, but considering the humongous amount of features and memorabilia included in the set, one can surmise it’ll be quite a chunk of change.Forging the Darkstar– A look at the aircraft from the movie, what went into it and filming at China Lake. La primera parte la miré en su momento y en alguna repetición, pero el disco en sí de este paquete no lo he mirado todavía. Había visto muchas reseñas en esta misma página dándole las mejores opiniones a la segunda película. Forging the Darkstar (HD, 8 min) takes a closer look at the scramjet prototype seen at the beginning of the film and how it plays a role in the story.
