Last year, 20th Century Studios kept one of its best movies, the Predator prequel Prey, out of theaters, limiting the release to Hulu. This recurring decision by studios to have certain movies skip theaters and debut as streaming exclusives has had the negative side effect of keeping those titles off home video. The logic seems to be that a streaming exclusive exists to incentivize subscriptions, something a home video release would undermine. Julito McCullum and Tristan Wilds, "That's Got His Own" (Episode 12) with director Joe Chappelle and writer George P.All of this might not seem like much, but the combined effect when the film’s in full motion is much more. In short, the Blu-ray version looks sharper, cleaner and punchier. It’s a cumulative effect, where if you watched the Blu-ray version of a film and then switched to the streamed version, you’d notice that the latter wasn’t quite as good. The same is true for all streaming services, with Netflix, Blinkbox and the other services that we tested producing similar results. Sound quality I’m convinced Steve McQueen (the living director, not the deceased actor) would be a household name if not for some atrocious studio marketing decisions. McQueen is a true multihyphenate, winning the Turner Prize and working as an official war artist in Iraq before making his first feature film. That film, 2008’s Hunger, premiered at Cannes and won McQueen the Caméra d’Or — making him the first British director to do so. He followed with Shame and 12 Years a Slave, the latter winning the Academy Award for Best Picture. Based on the DC character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the Superman films star Christopher Reeve as the legendary “Man of Steel.” Ultra HD Blu-ray showcases 4K resolution with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and a wider color spectrum, offering consumers brighter, deeper, more lifelike colors for a home entertainment viewing experience like never before. He continued. "Mythology is important, essential even, to a national psyche. To coat an elemental truth with the bright gloss of heroism and national sacrifice is the prerogative of the nation-state. But to carry a lie forward, generation after generation, so that our collective sense of the American experiment is better and more comforting than it ought to be, this is where mythology has its cost. In a young and struggling nation, a moderate degree of self-elevating bullshit has a certain earnest charm. For an affluent and technological superpower, with its ever-increasing capacity to impose institutional will on its citizenry -- not to mention the world at large -- it begins to approach the Orwellian. Make no mistake: one television drama cannot and would not claim to be all of Baltimore, or all of anything as large, diverse, and contradictory as any American city. The Wire is most certainly not about what has been salvaged or exalted in America. It is, instead, about what we have left behind in our cities, and at what cost we have done so. It is, in its larger themes, a television show about politics and sociology and, at the risk of boring viewers with the very notion, macroeconomics. And frankly, it is an angry show." only recently produced, newly available extra in the 20-disc Complete Series set is this excellent reunion special, There comes a time in every cult film fan’s life when they must bite the bullet and admit to themselves that they will likely never truly “get” Jesús “Jess” Franco. It may take years of attempts as well as multiple instances of genuinely convincing yourself that you know what you’re getting into when the words “Directed by JESS FRANK” (or some other perversion that may or may not be similar to his actual name) crops up on the screen. Took" (Episode 7) with director/actor Dominic West and editor Kate Sanford, and "-30-" (Episode 10) with creator David Simon Switching to a different part of the scene, you can see that the lady in red’s dress has less detail in the streaming version, losing some of its creases and finer detail. Colour from the Blu-ray version is better across the entire frame, with the streaming versions often looking a little drab in some areas.None of this gets in the way of the treachery, and GANG WAR IN MILAN is never less than entertaining, even if it never quite has the heft of other films of the genre like CALIBER 9 or Lenzi’s own ALMOST HUMAN. Granted, you’ve got to get through some of misogyny and homophobia, but not significantly more than what goes with the territory. For example, I’m ashamed that despite being a longtime fan of Romero’s zombie oeuvre and a fervent Tales from the Darkside evangelist, I hadn’t made time for Creepshow until this year. If anything, I’d avoided the anthology. Despite its iconic poster, teenage me couldn’t imagine a good horror movie starring Stephen King (who also wrote the film) and the guys from Cheers and Airplane. Adult me now knows better than to underestimate Ted Danson and Leslie Nielsen, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but King’s performance is fine — even charming, if not a fair bit insensitive to the rural folk from where I grew up. If your TV doesn't have HDMI ARC or a port marked HDMI output, then you'll need to use the digital audio output. This will either be an optical or co-axial port, so make sure your sound bar has the matching input. The benefit of using an optical or co-axial cable is that the other devices connected to your TV, such as PVRs, TV streamers and games consoles, will use your home cinema system's speakers, rather than those on your TV. This will also be the case if you connect via the HDMI ARC port.
