About this deal

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be my last. This tale takes place in Burma during the 1930s. When Belle Hatton’s father passes away, she finds an old newspaper clipping which will change her life forever. Belle now wants to find out the truth, but will she find the answers she is looking for? To the rest of the world Belle Hatton is an aspiring singer who's found herself in the beautiful country of Burma. The full truth is that Bella is seeking to fill the absence in her life: to find the sister she only recently discovered she had. It seems there are some who are none too pleased by her motivations and are keen to hinder her. The owl appeared late at night and left just as suddenly, he recognised the handwriting immediately and ripped open the envelope.

Shortly before the publication of The Missing Sister , Lucinda announced an eighth and final book in The Seven Sisters series, promising to answer the question at the heart of the story: Who is Pa Salt? Before her death, Lucinda was able to write several important passages and detailed notes on the story. She expressed a clear wish that her eldest son, Harry, should complete the series if the worst were to happen. Nors va, šios autorės knyga „Prieš liūtis“ man patiko labai. Ten giliau buvo pakapstyta. What I love about Dinah Jefferies books are how vividly told they are; how they truly transport the reader to an exotic destination and how the storyline keeps the momentum going from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest release, having waited rather impatiently for it! They only have one clue - an image of a star-shaped emerald ring. The search to find the missing sister will take them across the globe; from New Zealand to Canada, England, France and Ireland, uniting them all in their mission to at last complete their family.Desperate to find out what happened to the sister she never knew she had, when Belle starts asking questions, she is confronted with unsettling rumours, outright threats and a handsome American journalist named Oliver. Travelling out on the boat to Rangoon, Belle Hatton happens to chum up with Gloria de Clemente, a quixotic and charismatic woman around town. Belle has landed a job in the sizzling city of glorious colour and smells as a star performer.and through Gloria she comes to meet her brother Edward, who is a fixer and philanderer (given the chance). Yet he seems to the have the wherewithal to help progress Belle’s stage career. Inside the house, everything was the same as the day she came to collect her father’s things, a few months ago. Lily let go of Severus’ hand and climbed the stairs to her room. He stayed behind, leaving her to have a few moments on her own. A powerful story of love and loss that is utterly captivating. I was drawn deep into the world of Malaya and England in the 1950s in this intense exploration of what it means to love. Beautifully written and wonderfully atmospheric, Dinah Jefferies skilfully captures this fragile moment of history in a complex and thrilling tale. THE SEPARATION is a gripping and intelligent read.' There were parts of the story set in Cheltenham with Diana’s story which worked well too, but it was Burma that really captivated me. The contrast between two such different places was nicely done!

The six D’Aplièse sisters have each been on their own incredible journey to discover their heritage, but they still have one question left unanswered: who and where is the seventh sister? Fast forward to 1936 and an adult Belle has accepted a job as a nightclub singer in Rangoon, Burma. With both parents now dead, she's determined to discover what happened to her sister all those years earlier - is she still alive and if so, what became of her? But when Belle starts asking questions, it soon becomes apparent Elvira's disappearance has been covered up. . .Lily watched Severus for a moment before joining him. This was the first time they talked since their last fight when they were still in Hogwarts. Her heart was beating madly in her chest. She couldn’t believe her eyes.

You know I could never see you marry another man. You know my feelings for you.” Severus said, so different from the last time they spoke. He had no regrets now, no inhibitions. Overall I feel this book may be best suited as a simple holiday read. This is the first I've read from this author, though this is one of my preferred genres so perhaps I might read her in future. But this book is not one that I would recommend. We can now confirm that Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt will be published around the world in spring 2023, co-written by Harry Whittaker. Lucinda and Harry worked closely together on The Guardian Angels series for children. Harry writes: ‘Mum has passed on the secrets of the series, and I will keep my promise to her in sharing them with her loyal readers. Rest assured that in spring 2023, the whole world will know just who Pa Salt is and why he adopted the sisters.’ We thank those of you who have allowed us the space to grieve, and those who have donated so generously to Mary’s Meals . Lily, you are out of your mind!” Mary hissed as both of them struggled to fit under James’ cloak, “If James finds out—”Lily sat on her bed, looked around, and let her tears fall shamelessly. She cried for her mother, for her father, for her sister that refused to talk to her, for all her friends that have already died, and for the friends that would die, she cried for her and she cried for James. When Severus appeared at the door, she cried for him as well.
