About this deal

Dot loves visiting the children of Wallaby Ward and they're always pleased to see her too; from a crying baby to a bored teenager - a pat, a stroke and a cuddle with Dot cheers everyone up. But the work of the hospital dog doesn't stop there and when one of her patients is in trouble, it's up to Dot to save the day! About This Edition ISBN: Her owner, Rose takes her swimming each day - then they hop onto the bus to get to the hospital where Dot spends her time being a companion in the Wallaby Ward, full of children. Rose and Dot love their work and this is reflected in the wonderful rhyming lines, impelling readers to predict the last word of each pair of lines, adding some of their own as they reread the story, while the sometimes repeated lines: The latter parts of the book, OH NO. OH NO. I was just crying at that moment. I don’t want to spoil it and the ending of the book made me smile again, but for a bit of the book I was just in tears. I got the idea for this book when I was visiting a children’s hospital and saw a picture of their visiting dog on a notice board. I then found out that the dog Nala and her owner Sandy lived very near me, so I persuaded them to take me on a ward round. Here is a picture of us all.

I read this book in Dutch but will be writing my review in English. This was just so heartwarming and lovely and now I want a dog even more. XD Before Malcolm and I had our three sons we used to go busking together and I would write special songs for each country; the best one was in Italian about pasta. Here is a dog, a Dalmatian called Dot, Is she quite ordinary? NO, SHE'S NOT! After their breakfast and a swim in the sea, Dot and her owner Rose jump on the bus to the hospital. This is the charming story of Dot the dalmatian, a very special dog indeed. Instead of the normal visits to the park, Dot accompanies her lovely owner Rose to the hospital to soothe and entertain the children, babies, parents, doctors and nurses who are there. She even learns how to sign hello to Joe, a boy who is deaf. I studied Drama and French at Bristol University, where I met Malcolm, a guitar-playing medic to whom I’m now married. This book brought us smile and has brighten up our days, and it really doesn’t matter whether you are a dog lover or not. We have always been a big fan of Julia Donaldson’s rhyming and whimsical stories. This is another great addition that we really enjoyed reading: - heart-moving, bitter sweet, and creates a chance for interesting discussions with kids.

All in all, a beautiful and fun book about dogs, hospitals, and making people happy. The repetition was a bit eh at times, but I didn’t mind it too much especially because it was so cute and so much fun. And I just loved seeing those kids go from worried, frowning, and unhappy to happy and not so stressed out. Plus, the last parts of the hospital visit just made me laugh so hard, seeing Dot in that wheelchair held by one of the kids and then racing around. XD

The story is about a Dalmatian named Dot and her owner Rose, and focuses on their visits to the hospital routinely. We saw children in “Wallaby Ward”, “most of them happy but some of them bored.” We saw some children being shy, some howled, some being cross, and a teenager scowled. Four-year-old little AJ wants to know why the variety of negative emotions, and we got to talk about some of the reasons why the kids needed to stay in hospital: perhaps they were in pain and not feeling too well? Maybe they missed going outdoor? Julia also writes fiction, including the Princess Mirror-Belle series, illustrated by Lydia Monks, as well as poems, plays and songs – and her brilliant live shows are always in demand. ce dacă este prima ta zi de internare, ce dacă ai și febră, te doare burta, ești tâfnos, supărat, trist, plictisit...toate acestea dispar când cățelușa se află în apropierea copiilor. In another heart wrenching case, Graeme accompanies the veterinary physiotherapy team as they work with 12-week-old Sussex Spaniel, Elton, who requires rehabilitation to regain his ability to walk following a debilitating home accident. Owner Philippa entrusts Elton’s care to the hospital’s experts, hoping they can restore mobility to his hind legs. As you can see, Nala and Sandy don’t look at all like Dot and her owner in The Hospital Dog, and I changed their names too – but the book is dedicated to them.
