About this deal

Technology has advantages when it comes to teaching kids about the world around them, and its ability to reinforce geographical lessons is pretty good. I would argue that there’s something missing from the experience of spinning a digital globe or scrolling over a map on a tiny tablet screen, an ingredient that can make a world of difference to students learning about the Earth and its land masses. The AR aspect of the globe really disappointed me and I think without that the globe is great and this unnecessary extra that didn’t work well wasn’t needed. Another factor to keep in mind is color temperature. Higher temperatures, such as 8,500K, look like harsh office lighting, which is fine for staying awake or working. Lower temperatures, such as 2,500K, translate to a cozy, warm glow that's perfect for relaxing.

Oregon Scientific Smart Globe - Interactive with Smart Pen

The sad truth is that many of those same Americans might have equal difficulty pointing out some of the states in their own country. We are, as a nation, deplorable at geography. Experience 3D Augmented Reality with a tablet or smartphone - landscape, animals, landmarks and even dinosaurs!

The Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn remains on our list because it is a good choice for toddlers. Alternatively, for those with school-aged children, you’ll want something a bit more advanced. The LeapFrog Magic is intended for kids ages five to eight, and offers several games to challenge young minds. It also comes with a video screen and hours of watchable BBC material. The Shifu Orboot is another good choice for elementary-aged kids, and its quiz questions are even appropriate for preteens. He says it is his favourite item, other than his Xbox and phone, which if you knew Ben would know is a massive compliment to it. Ben was thoroughly impressed with how much information he could learn from it. Do you always ask what network is that particular number? Well, you are not alone. It’s a bit confusing to identify if the mobile number you are calling or texting is Globe or Tm, Smart or Talk N’ Text. So, we listed the mobile network prefixes for you. The Earth’s core is made of solid iron and is estimated to be a toasty 6,000°C. That’s as hot as the surface of the sun! Some smart bulbs need to connect to your smartphone through a home automation hub such as the Philips Hue Bridge. The addition of a hub usually means a higher price and an extra step or two in the installation process.
