About this deal

A well-recorded string quartet -- how about the Emerson playing the Allegro attacca from Bartok's String Quartet No. 3 -- sounds bracing on the IE600, and brasses and saxes gleam. Disclaimer: The Sennheiser IE 600 was sent to us by Sennheiser directly (thank you!), in exchange for our honest review. Sennheiser is not related to Headfonia in any way. For our testing we have used a mix of sources such as the Astell&Kern SP2000T, the EarMen Colibri and the Ferrum ERCO. The tips used are the memory foam ones provided by Sennheiser, and the cable is the 4.4 balanced one. More on tips and single ended use comes later in this article.

They’re every bit as eloquent when dealing with the big gestures as they are the fine details – and they allow it all to take place on a large, properly defined and thoroughly organised soundstage. Even when the going gets complex or hectic, locating specific elements of a recording is no trouble whatsoever. To top off an excellent frequency response, the highs exhibit a satisfying smoothness that strongly complements the rest of the sound signature. You get some nice extended height that brings even more air to the timbre, while also featuring natural tones that dissipate with finality. It offers little in the way of emphasis, but the overall representation of the treble is solid and realistic. Reverb tails get the best out of their profile, as certain effects are granted even more air and spaciousness. Summary The neutral sound signature combined with a slightly exaggerated sub-bass makes them thoroughly engaging, and the best part is the fit — these are without a doubt the most comfortable IEMs I've used thus far. The fit is one of the key reasons why the IE600 is in my daily rotation, and the only negative I can think of is that the design may not be to everyone's tastes. Ad perfectum compromissum. That’s what the IE 600 really is, the perfect blend between the reference IE 900 and the super fun IE 300. If you want a bit of both worlds, the IE 600 is the IEM to go for. I got to hear these as part of the IE600 tour, and they're now on the way to the next listener. Thanks @ericpalonen for the loan. Opinions here are subjective, unvarnished and unquantified.

Everyone who is into headphones surely has heard of the German Sennheiser. Sennheiser has been active for over 75 years and they are one of the most respected companies in audio. In the past years, Sennheiser has positively surprised us with a lot of top-quality products such as the HD 800 (S), the HD 660 S, the HD 560 and several other HD 5-series headphones. Sennheiser has also been active on the IEM and TWS market and the IE 300, IE 900 and Momentum True Wireless 2 score very well there. And there are, it turns out, limits to these monitors’ powers of resolution. ‘Girls in Their Summer Clothes’ by Bruce Springsteen [Columbia] is a narrow, congested pea-souper of a recording, with competing elements piled on top of each other – and despite their best efforts, the IE600 can’t open it up or spread it out. The listener can almost sense a power struggle going on, as the monitors attempt to force some distance between the horns, the percussion, the piano and the voice. Still, that’s more about the recording than the Sennheiser IE600.I do not feel that the detail level is very far apart but the IE600 feels smoother and more liquid in the treble, whereas the Keto has more edge and bite. What I mean is that the mid section in the IE 900 is technically stronger. More clear, precise, extended, spacious, separated, etc. I am not talking about the IE 600 mids being recessed.
