About this deal

This group is not for regular ficti A group for people who enjoy reading and talking about adult historical romance books between a man and woman. The Bishop sends the priest Heden into the wood, to find out why. Arriving at their secret priory, Heden discovers their commander is dead, the remaining knights paralyzed with despair. They will not act, they will not tell him what happened, and with each hour the monstrous army gets closer to Ollghum Keep.… But vows or not, I know in my heart that it would take more than a good and holy monk to resist Elijah Iverson right now. It would take a saint.

To save the life of a friend, he pledges himself to a path for which he is ill-prepared: guiding a blind priest on a quest to retrieve a sacred relic that only he can find. This first full-length study of Anglo-Saxon priests' books examines a wide array of evidence, including booklists, music, liturgy, narrative, and, crucially, the surviving manuscripts. The volume opens with a consideration of the context of a priest's life and work, moving on to investigate the issues of clerical literacy and the availability of books to priests, uncovering avenues for priestly education and elucidating the role that the secular clergy played in channels of manuscript production and distribution. The second part analyses the documentary and manuscript evidence for certain classes of priests' books, challenging existing thought and arguing that two poorly understood manuscripts are in fact books for priests. In an isolated country town brought to its knees by endless drought, a charismatic and dedicated young priest calmly opens fire on his congregation, killing five parishioners before being shot dead himself. Can Ci Pin (The Defective) Completed: (GPS TL: 1-onwards) (Beans TL: 49-end) | 2017 | Lu Bixing, Lin Jingheng | space opera, scifi A tender, beautifully told story of emotional growth, forgiveness [and] the possibility of miracles.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

a closed, feudal society. For 250 years, the Japanese conducted international trade only with the Dutch and Dyson's study of Anglo-Saxon priests' books, the first full-length study of its kind, advances our understanding of the secular priests who formed the largest literate group in tenth- and eleventh-century England and whose ministries touched the lives of most Christians. Deeply researched, judiciously argued, and clearly written, it offers an accessible overview of priestly expectations and duties, and will prove a reliable guide to further exploration and discovery of the texts and contexts of late Anglo-Saxon pastoral care." It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet, Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's… Madelaine Hillyard is a heart surgeon whose relationship with her teenage daughter, Lina, is strained. The DeMarco brothers, one a priest and one a bad boy, are a crucial part of Madelaine and Lina’s past, and as the plot evolves, I admit I fell a little in love with both of them.

Father Rodrigues is an idealistic Portuguese Jesuit priest who, in the 1640s, sets sail for Japan on a determined mission to help the brutally oppressed Japanese Christians and to discover the truth behind unthinkable rumours that his famous teacher Ferreira has renounced his faith. Once faced with the realities of religious persecution Rodrigues himself is forced to make an impossible… The stories of Aitor and Jacob, two priests selected to help rebuild the world following a nuclear apocalypse, are interwoven with those of Talik and Ziek, friends exiled from a city of mutants after Ziek exhibits symptoms of the dreaded Burdening disease.

A year later, troubled journalist Martin Scarsden arrives in Riversend to write a feature on the anniversary of the tragedy. But the stories he hears from the locals about the priest and incidents leading up to the shooting don't fit with the accepted version of events his own newspaper reported in an award-winning investigation.… I wanted to write crime fiction from a young age. I took a Biomedical Science degree, hoping to follow this with a PhD in Forensics but soon realised I didn’t want to spend the rest of my working life in a lab. So I took a Master’s degree in Science Communication and became a health journalist and editor instead. I knew my own crime novel needed to feature a journalist. My main character, Shanna Regan, has spent her life travelling, whereas my own job has always been desk-based in the UK. Maybe this is why I love reading crime novels that whisk me off to other countries (in my head)! When librarian Poe Markham takes the job at Thornchapel, she only wants two things: to stay away from Thornchapel’s tortured owner, Auden Guest, and to find out what happened to her mother 12 years ago. As the bruising dark of Samhain approaches, so does the fate of our circle, of Thornchapel and the village and the valley beyond it. And I must don the crown, because one thing is still true, even if I must face it alone.

Qi Ye (Lord Seventh) (sparkling water TL: 1-7) (Jade Rabbit Pendant TL: 8-onwards) (Chichi TL:completed) | 2010 | Wu Xi, Jing Beiyuan | historical, political This book made me laugh out loud multiple times due to the sheer ridiculousness of its story, its mile-wide plot holes, and dialogue that’s meant to come across as bold and sexy but reads more like someone who’s never spoken to another human being before. Poppy’s reasoning for becoming a sex worker is underdeveloped at best, as is her reasoning for the half-baked (and inevitable) third act break-up. Both of which are probably made worse by the fact that the book is entirely told from Tyler’s perspective, so we have no insight into Poppy’s seemingly nonsensical decision making. It’s a lot. But also I think we can all admit to ourselves that if you buy this book, you aren’t necessarily coming for a Pulitzer Prize-winning plot. Mark Dawson is one of the most famous English authors who is very well known for writing thriller novels. He is particularly famous for and currently writing three novels series’ John Milton, Beatrix Rose and Soho Noir. After being born in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, he was raised in Manchester and Chicago, Illinois. I’ve always been fascinated by our creative urges and ambitions, and by what makes us who we are and why we make the choices we do. While I’m interested in many aspects of human experience and psychology, from the mundane to the murderous, I’m especially drawn to narratives that probe our deeper psyches and look, particularly with a grain of humor, at our efforts to expand our understanding and create great works—or simply to become wiser and more enlightened beings. What is our place in the universe? Why are we here? Who are we? The books I’ve listed explore some of these matters in ways both heartfelt and humorous.

first shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu, in 1603. Ieyasu withdrew Japan from international trade and relations and createdThere were plans for an official welcome. It was to take place the following Sunday. But those who came to the rectory on Father Pennant's second day were the ones who could not resist seeing him sooner. Here was the man to whom they would confess the darkest things. It was important to feel him out. Mrs Young, for instance, after she had seen him eat a piece of her macaroni pie, quietly asked what he thought of adultery. Andre Alexis brings a modern sensibility and a new liveliness to an age-old genre, the pastoral. For his very first parish,…
