About this deal

I received this ARC from @netgalley and @hqstories just in time for December and it was more of an emotional rollercoaster than I was expecting! My thanks to HQ and NetGalley for the DRC of “One Christmas Morning”. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book. While out in the wilds of NYC, Iris meets Gio, the charming owner of a struggling gelateria on the brink of closing. Much to Iris’s surprise, her mother’s gelato, and their gelato are one in the same. With the recipe hanging in the balance and Gio’s uncle in a coma, Iris must decide how to tell him she knows the recipe. Will I have the chance to explain to little Erin why I had to go? Even if I do find the strength to return, what will my mother have told her? Only one person really knows what happened and why I had to do what I did. I know the truth will come out some day. I don’t expect forgiveness. The only thing I hope is that my family can survive the fallout.... Wow! Wow! Wow! I want everyone to read this book that so we can talk about all the twists and turns as I am so worried about inadvertently giving away a spoiler!! Instead I’m going to try and tell you about the story line, as best as I can without giving too much away!

Grab a hot chocolate and slip on your comfiest blanket because this feel-good holiday escape will give you all the cozy Christmas feels. Such a moving and emotional book... I honestly cannot recommend this book enough.' NetGalley reviewer,????? Eva and James have had ten years together and they want the same things. But Eva is starting her own business. She is obsessed to the point of neglecting her relationships. She has no time to solve her issues and what she gets is all the time in the world to work it out. Eva is about to open her new store which she has been preparing for the past three years. She is hopeful her work will help bury a heartbreak from one Christmas.

This was a very well done twist on the whole "ghosts of Christmas past" theme. I liked how Eva gets to experience how everyone sees her, while she gets to live as someone else each day. It's definitely a heavier read, with discussions of grief and pregnancy loss—but it's also an uplifting story as Eva adjusts her priorities, healing herself and her relationships in the process. Now, she has an opportunity to spend the Christmas weekend with friends at a place called Penhallow. The place that is magically connected to her and her grandmother. Whom she has vivid beautiful memories of spending time together. On Christmas at midnight, her Grandmother visits her and regales her with stories to try to help Eva regain her friendships and work on her marriage. This happens several times and then when she wakes, she is in one of her friends bodies. It is at that point that she is to realize the damage she has done to everyone else and how desperate they are to regain the friendship they so desperately long for yet again. Each Christmas Day she learns new lessons that will bring her closer to her family and friends. Of course, by its very nature, the book is quite predictable. ( Though there was one incident at the end that I did not see coming.) So this book is not about the destination but about the journey. And the journey is handled decently.

Once the hottest mergers and acquisitions executive in the company, Henrietta Wegner can see the ambitious and impossibly young up-and-comers gunning for her job. When Henri’s boss makes it clear she’ll be starting the New Year unemployed unless she can close a big deal before the holidays, Henri impulsively tells him that she can convince her aging parents to sell Wegner’s—their iconic Frankenmuth, Michigan, Christmas store—to a massive, soulless corporation. It’s the kind of deal cool, corporate Henri has built her career on. Eva has been grieving for the past three years. Deep in get own grief, she keeps pushing her loved ones away. She is not looking forward to Christmas, and her husband asks her to go to a party with him, thinking it will be good for her to get out and have some joy. Thank you to @Netgalley and to @Avon and Harper Voyager for this ARC and allowing me to read and provide my own review. With the help of a handsome stranger, Mira will have to travel across the Fortunate Isles in search of a way to buy her father’s freedom. But to survive the journey she will need to learn who to trust – as securing her own future, and that of her island, will come at a high price. Honestly not sure where to start with this book. It was okay. It didn’t captivate me personally as much as I thought it would. Eva is in the final days of preparing to open her first real store after a few years running an online business. But it's Christmas Eve and she's promised her husband and friends that she'll come out to Cornwall and spent a few days with them at her grandmother's home Penhallow, sold and now a rental. Eva is driven - for causes unknown - and obsessed with the store to the point of ignoring her husband James and their best friends Hallie & Kian. If she continues down this path, she will be a female Scrooge - with no friends and nothing in her life but work. Penhallow is a little mysterious, perhaps haunted, or at least paranormally active, and it has been since Eva's childhood.. So after a disastrous Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the house and her gran conspire and Evan awakens, on Christmas Day, again and again, but each day in a different person's body. Gran appears from time to time to guide her. As the story progresses, Eva begins to see herself as others see her and how she has damaged all of her relationships. Eva is completely consumed with the expansion of her business, so much so that she's neglected every other aspect of her life and is causing pain for others. It's up to her Gran to make her see reason. But Gran has passed away, hasn't she? One Christmas Morning drops you into the main character, Eva's, life at a very pivotal moment. We see how far Eva has gone to launch her shop and start to understand how far out of the hole she has to climb. And then Christmas hits and the Groundhog day theme starts, along with Eva embodying the other guests at Penhallow to hopefully learn her lesson in time to repair relationships.
