About this deal

Manuka honey is produced when the bee pollinates the Manuka bush, a plant native to New Zealand. Manuka Honey from New Zealand is harvested by bees from the nectar of the indigenous Manuka shrub ( Leptospermum scoparium). It contains Methylglyoxal (MGO) which is a key compound that sets Manuka Honey apart from other honey. The cream of the crop, premium Monofloral Manuka Honey is the highest grade possible, ranging from MGO 696+ (18+ UMF) to MGO 1356+ (27+ UMF). Because Manuka honey is an effective antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory topical treatment for skin problems, it is also excellent for treating shingles. An imbalance of bacteria in the stomach and intestines and also having low stomach acid can cause various gastric problems like diarrhea, abdominal pain and loss of appetite. In some cases this is caused by a condition called Small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) which is an increase in the number of bacteria, and/or changes in the types of bacteria present in the small bowel. Manuka Health is dedicated to care and and expertise at every step of the process, ensuring you are getting pure, authentic Manuka honey every time.

Cancer Let’s look at the many uses and health benefits of Manuka honey and how it can be used as a natural treatment for many ailments. 1. Manuka honey has strong antibacterial properties Developing a system to measure the MGO content in Manuka honey was first initiated by Dr. Peter Molan from the University of Waikato in New Zealand. His system, named “Molan Gold Standard”, gave us a viable metric to evaluate Manuka honey. In addition, MGO acts differently in honey than in isolation, with other elements present in the honey that alter how this chemical interacts with bacteria. This highlights that MGO is only a part of the picture and not the sole contributor behind the significant non-peroxide antibacterial activity of Manuka honey. Ensuring Authenticity and Quality: MGO is Not the Only FactorAdditionally, manuka honey has been shown to fight the bacteria that cause upper respiratory infections – the symptoms of which may include a cough, sore throat, a stuffy or running nose and sneezing– in people with cystic fibrosis. And in a study from the University of Washington, it was found to be just as effective as saline nasal irrigation at relieving the symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis (and far more pleasant, too!). 7. May protect against stomach ulcers For one trial, a special chewable Manuka honey was developed and the participants chewed on this 3 times a day for 10 minutes. After 21 days it was found that there was a reduction in tooth plaque and cases of bleeding gums were reduced by half 11.

Honey has been used since ancient times as a topical treatment for wounds and other skin infections. It is clear that Manuka honey has many health benefits when it comes to treating conditions that are caused by inflammation and bacterial infections. Manuka Honey – Precautions Another lab study published in the International Journal of Food Science and Technology found that manuka honey increased amounts of certain Lactobacillus probiotics – the ‘good’ bacteria that boost your gut health – and decreased the prevalence of ‘bad’ bacteria like E. coli. Again, high quality human studies are needed before any conclusions can be drawn. 9. Boosts athletic performanceThe MRSA bug highlights one problem facing the medical community; bacteria are becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics. Professor Cooper from the University of Wales carried out research on how Manuka honey interacts with bacteria. She found that Manuka honey can actually help antibiotics be more effective and even reverse antibiotic resistence 5. 3. Manuka honey for strep throat Methylglyoxal (MG). A powerful antibiotic compound which is found in large quantities in Manuka honey. Finally, if you’re looking for the ultimate punch against bacteria and other pathogens, we suggest MGO 829+. This honey has superior levels of both antibacterial activity and medicinal properties. MGO 850+, MGO 900+, and MGO 950+ are among the most common grades in this range.
