Rubens, Alex (21 November 2012). "LEGO The Lord of the Rings Review for Xbox 360". G4 Media. Archived from the original on 15 October 2013 . Retrieved 1 February 2013. Another Switch-related video at this year's Game Awards show was a new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The game was not released for Wii U because Traveller's Tales, Lego, and Nintendo were busy completing Lego City Undercover, which was already behind schedule. [5] The Wii version for Europe was delayed until 30 November. [6] The game has also been released for iOS. It was released on 20 October 2013. The gameplay is mostly the same, with minor limitations.

Switch Round Up: Reviews For LOTR: Gollum Spell Doom For The Switch

I can understand why they choose projects like this from an investors point of view - there’s already a fan-base established, the interest is already there. IronMan30 That's the mindset, at least. Nintendo gamers love retro games however! I don't see why publishers like Square Enix and Capcom feel like the boat has sailed on making modern pixel art titles for the Switch. Octopath Traveler, and even Dragon Quest XI's 2D mode, are proof enough that the Switch base could receive them positively. Lego The Lord of the Rings is a Lego-themed action-adventure video game developed by Traveller's Tales, that was released on Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows, Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The OS X version of the game, published by Feral Interactive, was released on 21 February 2013. [1]To make things more complicated, we are getting games that are being finished post-launch with "free updates" that should have been included in base game from the start or numerous patches to fix bugs or glitches. I know gave development takes time but I really miss the days when we got a complete product on launch date.

I frequently read the complaint that they „dared asking full price for it“. Did you consider that they may have had to? License and development cost likely meant they had to recoup a large sum. They couldn’t and now they’re shutting down. Been reading The Hobbit again, one of my favourite books. It really puts into perspective just how badly the Hobbit trilogy misses the mark. Aside from the first 20 minutes, Bilbo doesn't eat, or even mention food once throughout those movies. I'm hoping LOTR fans get what they want out of this game. For me personally, this game is a hard pass. I never found Gollum to be that interesting a characterBut it's likely also the reception of this game upon completion that has forced Nacon's hand in telling them to shut down internal development. :x When he’s not paying off a loan to Tom Nook, Liam likes to report on the latest Nintendo news and admire his library of video games. His favourite Nintendo character used to be a guitar-playing dog, but nowadays he prefers to hang out with Judd the cat. Athletic and agile, sneaky and cunning. Driven by the desire to once again hold in his hands what he lost, Gollum is one of the most fascinating characters in the world of The Lord of the Rings. It might have any interesting story, but if I decide to ever buy it I would surely wait it to be on sale.

Finally an LOTR game I can get behind. I'm a huge LOTR fan, since long before the movies, and Gollum is a very cool character who deserves a good game. LOTR has never really been about great heroes smashing through hordes of orcs, it's about "little guys" rising to the occasion when cataclysmic events overturn their world. Gollum is perfect for this. He's almost useless as a melee fighter and driven by enormous internal conflict. I'm excited to see what they do with the idea.

A Gollum game can work well, but the way that they're going about it makes it feel and look completely cheap. I don't get why it has to look so ugly art-wise. VoidofLight They couldn't afford Andy Serkis, I imagine and he's very busy these days directing etc. Also, they probably went with someone else so this doesn't come off as a licensed game based on the movie even though they took some obvious inspiration from the movie version of him but want to do their own thing. But that voice though, I can do a better job than this guy. What did you think of the trailer? Are you confident this will still see the light of day on Switch? Scroll down and let us know.
