About this deal

I had a number of the Deta switches installed recently and can advise the following for anyone interested in the experience and handling certain case issues. For perspective, 2 watts amounts to 17.52 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy per year, while the average U.S. residence uses over 10,000 kWh annually. After reading this thread, am I correct that I cannot use the other switches anymore after installing the smart switch? Yes. I mentioned in another thread that I had used sensors and tamper switches to turn on and off a Genio light. I used the brilliant app, the arlec, the genio and Smart Life (all variants of the same thing). The delays were the main reason I have't pursued these products with any real enthusiasm. No neutral unfortunately so I'm kind of forced to use the Deta but don't mind. They have everything I want and don't require any other hardware.

We searched the internet for excellent quality, highly durable, low energy saving LED lights for our indoor car showroom. We wanted a difference from the lights to make our high value performance vehicles to totally stand out from our market competitors. I was able to switch "On" and "Off" the light switch via the grid connect app. All is working as intended. All automation worked as intended and google voice assistance. Two Way Switching: This is quite easily achieved via 'the app'. I actually had two in the home (I wasn't even aware of one of them! – recent move). You simply set up some automation where one switch turns the other one or off, and also vice-versa. One possible issue is that for a 2-way switch for stair lighting for example, where you may have a multi-gang switch at one end, the upper and ground floor may be on separate circuits. As the Deta switch only has the 'one-input' (probably typical I assume) this will cause the RCD to trip. Possible solutions are to either convert the multi-gang switch to two separate switches or as in my case the sparky calculated that the one-circuit for lighting will be sufficient as I have LED downlights throughout and no heat lamps for example.

Ok so just after some clarification as I'm not sure if this is called 2 way switching as I'm a noob. One factor that may limit your smart switch choices is whether or not you have a neutral wire at the switch's location. Homes built before the 1980s were not required to use a neutral wire, and many in-wall smart devices require it. Adding neutral wiring for a smart switch can be more trouble than it's worth. You can find no-neutral smart switches that work with certain brands and products to avoid the hassle. Once again, have others found delay issues in similar setups and what have you done to remedy this?

Is this legal? The Sonoffs, etc., were only ever plugged in to the outlet, but these smart switches are hard-wired into the home. Can I just flash whatever firmware I want into the light switch?A far superior product that will pay for itself in a relatively short period of time. We are very pleased with our new LED lights from LED Saving Specialist and will buy more when we expand our premises." The manual/wiring guide would have told you that, but regardless I'm sure your 'sparky' could run a neutral for you ;) https://photos-eu.bazaarvoic e.com/photo/2/cGhvdG86YnVubm luZ3Mtbno/0dd5c237-6bcd-5fa2-bec4-df4fe0379b07 Many basic smart home products on the market can get the job done, but Kasa Smart's Wi-Fi Light Switch with dimming is among the lowest-priced smart switches and can easily be more cost-effective than a set of smart light bulbs. Installation is relatively simple, with the common smart-switch requirement of a neutral wire, generally present in homes built after the 1980s. The switch includes an on/off button and a pair of up/down dimmer buttons. You can control the brightness from anywhere with the user-friendly Kasa Smart app or voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant (but not Apple's Siri). Only to find that it needs a neutral. I looked at 3 different light switchs in the house and none have a neutral. Bugger. Just simple switching.
