In addition to the principal actors, the film contained several cameo appearances by individuals involved in the history of Hairspray: Queen Latifah as "Motormouth" Maybelle Stubbs, a Baltimore rhythm and blues radio DJ who hosts "Negro Day" on The Corny Collins Show.
