Description

If you want to play your favorite songs entertainingly, a mini stereo amplifier is the best way to go. Fosi Audio TB10D is an analog input(RCA) Class-D audio amplifier that easy to install to build your home audio sound system. Much like the TB10D, the V3 delivers a neutral sound signature that won’t colour your sound, allowing you to hear your music unadulterated – or, if you prefer, to only hear the colour imparted to music by your speakers without adding any of its own. I know other reviewers had valid issues with the original version of this amp, but Fosi Audio seems to have rectified whatever the problem was on the early generation. While I wish the power supply was certified by a NRTL, at least it can be swapped out for something else in the event it fails. Compared to the JBL 305PMkII with their built in class D amplification, the Fosi Audio TB10D Behringer 2030P combo is a brute. It doesn’t have the boundary options that the JBL has, but it does have a much quieter disposition. The JBL 305P MKII is known for its hissy nature, the Fosi Audio TB10D did not exhibit any unwanted hiss. Mini classic simple design with bass, treble, and volume control. Replaceable Knobs: ORANGE KNOB , GREY KNOB. On the rear are banana plug connectors that can also accept a raw wire.

When idling there is a very faint hiss from the speakers, but it’s nothing of concern. Commercial amps at more than 10 times the price produce produce more noise than this. The tone controls have a wide range of adjustment and the volume control is a logarithmic type that requires very little adjustment to make a lot of noise. The chip is covered by a large heatsink which should be perfectly adequate, and they even used thermal compound and height spacer washers to ensure proper thermal coupling between the surface of the chip and the underside of the heatsink. You don’t see this very often in amps like this. I also noted that the speaker terminals are wired to the amp board with cable of an appropriate gauge to carry the high-current output signal, which again is not always the case. Overall an excellent implementation. But how does it perform? The TPA3255 specifies a mere 0.006% total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) at 1W into a 4Ω load, rising to just 0.1% at the onset of clipping. Power supply ripple rejection is >65dB at 1kHz in BTL mode, so the chip isn’t especially sensitive to a quality power supply. The chip is 90% efficient at 4Ω First, the TB10D is a class D amplifier, made in China, that is reportedly rated at a whopping 300 watts per channel for a total rating of 600 watts. The knobs all have quite a bit of weight to them, so they offer some resistance to turning and this allows for more precise adjustments. Specs & Features It’s definitely portable. If you’re thinking of taking the Fosi Audio TB10D on the road, it would fit neatly in a laptop bag, a carry-on, or a suitcase, depending on where you’re heading.

Fosi Audio TB10D Amplifier Review

Feeding a low 0.05Vrms signal in and increasing the volume knob to the max tells me this amp allows up to +30dB gain which should be more than enough for any DAC or preamp to push the amplifier to clipping levels. While the Lepai LP2020A had its heyday, the output power of 15W and rudimentary 1980’s boombox styling is yesterday’s news. While the Lepai has a tone defeat switch, it suffers from turn on pop (but so does the Adcom GFA). The Fosi Audio TB10D does not have turn on pop. The Fosi TB10D is a standard Class-D 2ch stereo amplifier, it has a single pair of RCA inputs and R/L speaker outputs, on the front there is a volume control and the on/off switch. There are also Bass and Treble tone controls on the front of the amp, there is no remote control with the TB10D, the volume has to be manually changed. Build quality appears to be great and it is in fact surprising this unit costs so little, as it is very well put together with no flaws to report. Features & Specs Not bad, at 50% (best I could estimate) on those treble and bass knobs, I see a wee bit more bass energy than treble but of course this can be fine adjusted. Notice phase relatively flat and at 0°, which means that the absolute polarity is maintained (unlike the inverting AOSHIDA).

Seriously though even if the Kenwood was good as new it would still get blown away by a modern class AB or class D. I have the Adcom GFA-545 that a grew up with as a kid around and I while I do take it out now and then I prefer my modern amps and the Adcom is budget audiophile legend and a beast of a amp. Peak (!) wattage, as already mentioned, is just above 300 Watts at the stated minimum impedance. The optional available 48 / 5A power supply is not even the maximum allowed by Texas Instruments, but You have to look elsewhere to get it with those maxed out specs. Fosi probably buys the power supply in numbers probably from someone else (OEM) and reuses it for several other models.

(Review) Fosi Audio TB10D, Tiny Amplifier Producing 600 Watts

There is also no noise or hum to speak of. The V3 is just dead silent, even with the Concept 20 which are 4 Ω and are prone to showing hisses in amplifiers. Final Thoughts The Fosi Audio TB10D box has the slogan “Hi-Fi Made Fun” printed on it, and I think that Fosi Audio is certainly living up to it. Standard 5-way speaker cable binding posts; not the most robust quality but it'll work fine. Single-ended RCA inputs left, and power barrel connector on the right.https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/fosi-audio-tb10d-amplifier-review.37826/ Reply Thank you for your answer. And would the V3 work with the same set up but with 6 ohms nominal speakers instead of 8 ohms ? Fosi Audio TB10D vs Soundavo NSA-250 (79 USD vs 200 USD) – Soundavo NSA-250 has a DAc inside, which make the setup much less complicated, and it also uses the same speaker connectors as Fosi Audio TB10D, so you’ll have a similar experience physically, except that NSA-250 has streaming abilities, is a more complex device, but also priced higher. The overall sound is about equal, with the dynamics and impact of the TB10D being more impressive, and the EQ more effective, and easier to use. The soundstage is fairly good on both, but both have a high THD that will be audible at very high volumes. Looking at the front of the amplifier, the first thing you notice is the treble and bass tone controls, meaning you can adjust the treble and bass levels to your liking. The first knob of the left adjusts treble and the middle knob adjusts bass.

Fosi Audio TB10D Review - Prime Audio Reviews

I tested the Fosi Audio TB10D by connecting it to an SMSL DO200 MKII on one side and a pair of Q Acoustics Concept 20 on the other.

It should be noted that I have absolutely no affiliation with Fosi Audio. I’d like to thank Fosi audio for providing the sample for this review. This review reflects my personal experience with the Fosi Audio TB10D Hifi Stereo Amplifier. Every opinion expressed is mine and I stand by it. The purpose of this review is to help those interested in the Fosi Audio TB10D Hifi Stereo Amplifier / EQ find their next music companion. Accessory wise you get a power supply and that’s it, to be honest there isn’t anything else that’s needed to get this little amp up and running. I attached the Q Acoustic 3010s to the Fosi Audio TB10B. After a few minutes of listening, and a little bit of tweaking with the bass and treble pots, I have to say that I was floored at how much more bottom end I could get out of my Q Acoustic bookshelves with the Fosi Audio, compared with the Denon. Fosi configured the TB10D as a 2 channel design internally bridging it down to two channels and using an appropriate filter. They included a 32V 5A power supply and given the 90% efficiency rating of the amp we should expect no more than about 80W per channel (32V x 5A * 90%= 160W /2 channels).
