The Secrets of Dumbledore wasn't going to be a No Way Home-sized hit, but it would have hoped to benefit from a similar nostalgia boost. After the first movie, the series pivoted to making Potter characters the centre and in the threequel, Albus Dumbledore is arguably the lead character. Fantastic Beasts 3 has recast the role of Gellert Grindelwald. The dark wizard will now be played by Mads Mikkelsen, a Danish actor and former gymnast most famous in the U.S. for starring in the series Hannibal. He recently earned a BAFTA nomination for Another Round, which won Best International Film at the 2021 Oscars. Could we see some Harry Potter favourites show up in a fourth movie? Ahead of the release of the third movie, Fogler didn't shut down the rumours that we could see a younger version of Hagrid at some point.

Behind the camera, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them director David Yates (who also helmed the last four Harry Potter movies) signed on to direct all of the movies in the series. The cast of Fantastic Beasts 3: The Secrets of Dumbledore is led by Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a British Ministry of Magic employee in the Beasts Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. That means nearly three and a half years will have passed since the second film, Crimes of Grindelwald. Fantastic Beasts 4has yet to be officially confirmed by Warner Bros, although the series was always planned to be a five-movie series. Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, an auror with the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) and Newt's eventual wife.

In the finale, Dumbledore and Grindelwald's blood pact is broken after Grindelwald tries to kill Credence for betraying him. Dumbledore protects Credence without thinking of Grindelwald, and their "spells met" which broke the pact. By the end of the threequel, Grindelwald has been exposed (again), Queenie and Jacob get married and Newt reunites with Tina Goldstein.

In February 2022, producer David Heyman revealed that work had yet to begin on the script for the fourth movie (via ScreenRant). It's a neat wrap-up of the three movies to date without a major cliffhanger to resolve as there was with The Crimes of Grindelwald's ending. Fans know from canon where the story is going and you could easily see it being the final Fantastic Beasts movie. The second official Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore trailer focuses on the wizarding war, giving fans of the Harry Potter movie something familiar (with less beasts, more rivalries). Mads Mikkelsen looks truly menacing as Gellert Grindelwald. Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Tina's sister and a powerful Legilimens who takes Grindelwald's side We know less about what happens with Newt and the other Fantastic Beasts characters during that period. So when it comes to them, they could be doing anything in the fourth and fifth movies, should they happen.Katherine Waterston's Tina Goldstein had a major role in the first two movies, but was relegated to a small cameo in The Secrets of Dumbledore. Tina is now the head of the American Auror office which is keeping her "very busy". And now the third.. where things just simply go sideways, not only it tries to explore even further Dumbledore's past, but fails miserably on doing so. There are a lot of points in the story that simply make no sense at all, the most annoying being the fact that most characters on screen have absolutely no influence on the plot, they are extras in their own film. Grindelwald "rise to power" is so forced, senseless and so generic to the point of being cringe.. After several delays, The Secrets of Dumbledore arrived in cinemas in April 2022, almost four years after the sequel. A large part of the delay was out of its control as the ongoing global pandemic affected its filming.
