Distorts after 80 % volume but only if Bass is set to full. Which is something its not meant to deliver as its meant to have natural audio. Furthermore, the front is textured and does not attract fingerprints easily. Also, the removable metal grill is high-quality and will come in handy to protect the drivers from dust.

The Edifier R1700BT provides remarkable features with an excellent balance between design and performance. It delivers clean and distortion-free sound. On the other hand, the Edifier R1850DB will enable you to enjoy audio from any wireless or wired source. Although the bass is sufficient, there is an option to add a subwoofer. Sound quality One weird thing about the remote control is that it features two volume up and two volume down buttons. The button pairs do exactly the same thing and we’re not sure why Edifier decided to include multiple buttons for the same task. Other than that, the remote control does its job perfectly. What do you mean by that: “Of course, professional mixing is out of the question without a proper monitoring solution. But for composing music, beat making, recording and editing audio, or handling any similar audio-related task, we can only recommend the R1850DBs as a great budget solution.”? With impressive sound and excellent features at budget prices, there’s no question why you might be looking at the Edifier R1700BT and R1850DB.

We focus on education, discussion, and sharing of entry and mid level separate & multi component audio systems. Similar to the R1700BT, the frequency response range is 60Hz – 20kHz. It has sufficient depth in both high and low ends to deliver an accurate response. Also, the speakers are loud at 85dBA, which is ideal for a small to the medium-sized studio. The 1850db is quite comparable to the 1700BT in terms of sound quality. In addition, it delivers incredible performance with minimal power wastages. R1700BT units have a solid build quality with ideal weight to keep them in place. In addition, the exterior casing features a high-performance MDF wood with vinyl walnut woodgrain wrap to add a decorative touch. This makes the speakers ideal for any studio or home application.

DIGITAL / ANALOG INPUTS – RCA/Aux for PC turntables etc Optical/Coaxial for lossless connection Bluetooth for convenience These appeared to hit nearly all of my targets except one low-priority one (balanced inputs), and included the ability to add on a sub later on if I wanted, so I took a chance. I don’t have any experience with the Edifier brand but I’ve heard good things. Turns out this was a great move. It has very good bass , goes to a decent volume considering the small 4 inch bass driver and has a very warm treble presentation which I feel is due the silk dome tweeter used . Silk domes do sound warmer and richer compared to Metal dome tweeters albeit with the sacrifice of treble extension. Its mids are well defined with sufficient warmth to produce a pleasing listening experience. In addition, the highs are crisp and clean without any harshness. Also, the lows are ample, although with a little more boom. To achieve this they often color the sound to place more emphasis on certain frequencies. This makes for a pleasing sound with warm bass and distinct highs. While great for general listening they do not perform well as dedicated studio monitors. Compact and look great. Sound brilliant connected by bluetooth to my iPad and also on the auxiliary input to my Yamaha arranger keyboard. The Edifier R1850DB speaker is a device that delivers high-quality sound for an enhanced audio experience. It offers a sleek and modern design, making it suitable for various settings. The speaker utilizes advanced audio technologies to produce clear and immersive sound reproduction. My Impressions so far. Is that they are a great little speakers . They cant be compared to the speaker setups that i have as they are in a totally price and quality range .

Spoiler Alert - If you are a BassHead simply don't bother(But if have sufficient budget then keep reading will describe further)

The speakers are heavy and solid – they FEEL valuable. I like the slight upward angle a lot as they are aimed perfectly from my desktop to my ears. They look modern and sleek, with or without the grills (though I have a two year old and will probably keep them on). The cable that connects the two speakers is super long – much longer than I needed (mine are only a couple of feet apart). The right speaker has the IR sensor for the remote and a small status/power indicator light that glows through the grill. My first impression was that I really liked the design, they fit in almost any environment, except perhaps really old school cottages. A strange comparison, but I have reviewed a pair of Edifiers in an old cottage before over at Fullsync. Every aspect of Edifier’s R1850DB bookshelf speakers are designed with purpose. The medium-density fibreboard [MDF] enclosure reduces distortion and minimises acoustic resonance. The base of the speaker is angled at a 10-degree incline for dynamic precision and delivery. The design of the angle directs sound from the woofers right to your ears producing 70 watts of balanced quality tunes. Edifier’s R1850DB active bookshelf speakers are a stand out in both categories of style and performance. Its 4-inch midrange/woofer speaker drivers create rich lows. Meanwhile, the treble units produce clear highs. A perfectly tuned bookshelf speaker to suit your needs. The flared rear bass port is securely mounted to avoid rattling or tearing with use or when being moved around. First, the low-end is sufficiently deep without overpowering boominess. You can add a subwoofer if the bass is insufficient for your needs. Second, the mids are remarkable without muddy tones. Also, the highs are clean, and there is an excellent balance between the mids and lows. As a result, spoken words come out clearly both in vocal performances and dialogue in movies.

The fiber optic input cable measures 144 cm. A fantastic pair of bookshelf speakers. Full Specifications We were not paid for this review. The speakers have since been returned to the PR Company working on behalf of Edifier. Considering the budget-friendly price point, the R1700BT speakers feature a rigid and well-engineered design. Although you may want a speaker that produces amazing sound, it should also fit your studio’s aesthetic. Edifier R1700BTRemote control is also included with the speakers. It will come in handy to control some functions if you don’t like getting up every time you want to change something. Edifier 1850DB Being that we’ve already reviewed R1850DB’s younger sibling, the R1800BT, we suggest taking a closer look at that article for a more in-depth analysis of the unit’s sound. Conclusion The 19mm silk dome tweeter is also fortified to protect against punctures which can happen on cheaper, low-quality speakers. While these are two great speakers, I also wrote a full article on the best edifier speakers over here. Controls Winner: Edifier R1850DB
