Ultra-high definition 2160P Video Record, 7-inch IPS screen while supporting HDMI output, microscope screen and HDMI screen can display simultaneously that allows you to see a more microscopic world and free your eyes all the time. Also included is a UV filter. It is not used to filter out UV light however. Its main purpose is to protect the front lens element from soldering smoke and accidental damage. It makes for easier cleaning than if you would have to wipe down the tiny lens itself. The quality of the photos is okay. They tend to be less sharp and more noisy than what you actually see on the built-in screen.

I’ve found that nothing really beats a classical stereo microscope, especially when it comes to damage analysis of PCBs.

Compared to digital microscopes, stereo microscopes have increased image quality, let you see depth, and tend to be more durable. They are significantly larger and more expensive, however. It takes around 2 to 3 minutes to fully assemble the Andonstar AD407 Pro Digital Microscope. Link to the video is given at the end of this article. I already have an optical binocular but I don’t like to use it and would prefer a digital microscope. The included remote is useful for making a photo (or video) without touching the buttons under the LCD screen. Using the buttons can cause movement, resulting in a blurry image. By using the remote you will not have this problem. In the video, I also tested some random electronics components. You need to take a look at those components. You will be amazed.

Anyway, if you long press the M button it will open the menu and then using the arrow keys you can scroll through the menu items and use the Ok button for the selection. The screen is probably the most valuable asset of this digital microscope. With its 7″ diagonal it is larger than the screen of the ADSM302 , which has a 5″ screen. The 7″ screen makes it easy to see small details. I have saved most of the downsides of the AD407 for this section. There are quite a few, and they are mostly related to the build quality. These broad statements need defining. Most electronic hobbyists didn’t use microscopes for electronics because they weren’t needed. The AD407, being the newer version, has better overall features. It comes with a bigger screen and is more responsive, making SMD soldering significantly easier.

Another limitation of the images is that they are not taken from the ‘full’ screen. Instead, the frame is cut off at the sides and reduced to an image with a 4:3 aspect ratio (as opposed to the 16:9 ratio of the screen). Keep this in mind when framing your shots. VideosThis is crazy, look at the details, the image is quite sharp and now I can easily read the code which is R2X. We will test so many other things, but first let me explain how to use the menu. For each height you can set the lens to (focus distance), there is a specific size area (field of view) visible on the microscope LCD screen. I have listed them below, so that you can get an idea of how big of an area you can view at once under the microscope. Height Get real-time component insights as you design with Octopart built into Altium 365. Octopart is the fastest search engine for electronic parts and gives you the most up-to-date part data like specs, datasheets, cad models, and how much the part costs at different amounts etc. Right in the design environment so you can focus on your designs. Start with Altium Designer and Activate Altium 365. Search for electronic parts on Octopart. I am not sure if this is officially recommended, as the manual doesn’t mention anything about it, but I have found it to work just fine.

If you want to take images or videos for later use, you can store them on a (non-included) SD card. This is done automatically when you press any of the record buttons on the remote or microscope. Photos

We also liked that the scope has a remote control so you can operate it without touching it. We’ve used scopes where pushing the buttons to do things like snap a photo sometimes causes vibrations or worse when you are trying to focus on something specific. One downside of the remote is that (at least on my unit) I need to point the remote exactly at the IR receiver for it to work. So occasionally I need to re-aim and press the button again if nothing happens. UV Filter This portrayed camera seems to do a surprisingly good work though. Looks like one could actually use one. So I say kudos for showing that there is hope. There certainly is a use case for such setup. All in all, I would say that the improved features of the AD407 are worth the extra cost compared to the ADSM302. Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Andonstar AD407? Just go ahead and press these buttons it won’t destroy the microscope; if at any point you are not happy with the settings you can press this reset button and it will again set the default values for you. I think I have pretty much explained everything, now let’s go through some of the very basic Parameters before I connect this digital microscope with a large 42 inches screen.
