Description

Duan Ni - clay with medium porosity and good heat-retaining properties. The color varies from golden, beige, and light yellow to blue and green. It pairs well with lightly-oxidized Oolongs. ( January 2013) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message) Long Story short let’s get into a short overview of the main categories, shall we? Zini — 紫泥 — Purple Clay Yixing clay is not very malleable, and its low plasticity doesn't allow it to be wheel-thrown. So, when you look inside of a teapot and see circular lines or other traces of wheel-thrown pottery techniques - it's not a good sign.

Yixing China’s zisha clay is most safe for tea drinkers for other reasons. Since the clay deposits vary in color, they can be mixed as desired to produce different colored pots; therefore, no artificial dyes or colorants need be introduced. This clay is not merely safe, its richness in minerals makes it nutritious! The purple clay teapot can be called the best teapot and it is favored by almost tea lovers. Teapot's quality varies. A good purple clay teapot is a good art and craft and it costs much. It's definitely that purple clay teapot selection is not easy for many people.

What is Yixing clay?

Zhu Sha or Zhu Ni - the bright red hue of cinnabar with high iron content and medium to low porosity. Due to its qualities, it may pair well with Dan Cong, and Hong Cha. Teapot is spiritual. The more nourishing, the more valuable and the more, flavored. If an original teapot is improperly used or nourished, its value will be greatly reduced. First, the clay is molded into the desired shape using a mold or by hand. Then, it is dried and fired in a kiln to harden the clay and remove any moisture. After firing, the teapot may be glazed to create a smooth surface and enhance its appearance. Finally, it is fired again to set the glaze. Making a Yixing teapot requires skill, experience, and patience, as it involves several stages. How to tell the age of Yixing teapot If you live somewhere hot and/or humid, or you do not frequently use your tea pot, it is important to keep it dry. Failure to do this may make your teapot smell musty, and this unpleasant smell is not easy to remove.

The quality of the jet matters when the force of its pressure should be able to "pierce" the tea leaves, extracting the taste from them. A jet that breaks and thereby loses pressure cannot accomplish such a task. Makers like Tiffany and Co. are well-known across the globe, and anything with the Tiffany & Co. hallmark on it is typically more valuable than more generic items of the same kind. There’s also the material to consider; porcelain, silver, and other metals are typically the most valuable materials. Are Antique Teapots Safe to Use? You’ll be delighted to know that the vast majority of antique teapots are completely safe to use today. The silver teapots available at AC Silver are all safe to use. Teapots from other places, however, are dependent mostly on their structural integrity.Yixing teapots are all hand-made rather than being thrown on the wheel. The hard clay is pounded with a heavy wooden mallet into a slab, and the bodies of the teapots can be made in three basic techniques: segmented teapots are press-moulded; round teapots are paddled, and square teapots are made by the slab method. Specialised tools of wood, bamboo, metal and horn, created through the centuries, are used during the process. 3. Are there different styles of teapot, and were different styles used for specific types of tea? The stoneware teapot was made with red-brown clay, made to have an unglazed finish. The shape of the teapot is similar to that of the Yixing Zisha teapot, taking on a traditional Asian form that makes for a stunning tea accessory. 5. Pair of Famille Rose Coral-Ground Teapots It took me like 6 months to gather, validate and understand all the resources about traditional Yixing Zisha processing. However I think now I understand most of it. If you have questions or something you don’t understand then feel free to leave a comment.

The color of the finished teapot can be anything in the range of and between the other Zisha types. Most would recommend dedicating each teapot to a single type of tea. For example, one yixing only for white teas, another yixing teapot only for light oolongs, and another for dark oolongs. While it is, indeed, a good idea and we also recommend such an approach, it is not strictly necessary. If you take good care of your teapot by thoroughly washing it (using just water. You must never use detergents. If you absolutely must, you may use baking soda, but better if you don't), you can safely brew various teas in it without afflicting their tastes on each other. If anything, you can re-season the pot, and you'll be fine. The purple clay teapot is ventilating, and it is not easy to change taste if it is used to make tea, even if the tea is placed for two days, it is still fragrant. This kind of pot just needs simply washing without use for a long time, without any odor. Tea can emit fragrance with this purple teapot. Authenticity Certificates: Some authentic Yixing teapots come with authenticity certificates from the potter or workshop, which can be used to verify their authenticity.I’d recommend Qinghuini for people who want to experience what teapots during the Ming and Qing dynasties have been. I’d also advise to get a teapot with a more classic, traditional shape, to go along with the feeling. While yixing clay is, indeed, an amazing clay, it's not a must to practice Gong Fu Cha. In fact, the origins of the modern Gong Fu Cha come from Wuyi Shan and Chaozhou. While Wuyi Oolongs (Yancha) were introduced to yixing pretty early on, they didn't have yixing teapots in Chaozhou. Instead, they make their own Chaozhou clay teapots which they've been successfully using with Dan Gong Oolongs for centuries. The other famous Chinese clays are Ni Xing clay from Guangxi, Jian Shui clay from Yunnan, and Rong Chang from Sichuan. Each has its own characteristics beneficial for tea. Also, as mentioned above, some teas may benefit more from being brewed in porcelain, glazed teaware, glass, or even in silver teapots.

Among non Chinese speakers, Qing Hui Ni (青灰泥) could be confused with Qing Shui Ni (清水泥), but they are totally different. The first is an actual Zisha ore while the latter isn’t. So if you see Qingshuini mentioned in case of a modern teapot, then be wary, because it doesn’t tell anything about what the teapot is made of, only what it tries to be (a light brown colored teapot). Lao Zini (老紫泥) Our teapots come with marks that refer to the artist who made them. Generally marks are stamped on the bottom of the teapot, the inside of it, and on the lid. Sometimes you'll also see a mark on the handle. For most of our teapots, a certificate of authenticity of the artist is included. We're often asked to identify a mark or our users are asking for a Modern Chinese Pottery marks list. The truth is there are tens of thousands of Yixing artists in China, and such a list simply doesn't exist. Antique Yixing Teapots: How To Tell The Age?But when we pour from a teapot, we decant the already-made tea. The water that should be able to penetrate tea leaves should be coming not from a teapot but a kettle. And even then, often, we prefer to be more gentle with leaves and not to pour water on them directly. Tendon profile shape take the flowers and fruits in the nature as pattern, create vivid and smooth muscle pot. Such pots are not only a beautiful pot style, but also with the rigorous producing process, especially in the flap part, and the seam is very tight. The lid should be turned, and the pot body pattern is both of density and decency.
