You've seen our Ryzen 5 3600 vs. Core i5-9400F battle in over 30 games, you've also seen the R9 3900X and Core i9 9900K duking it out in a few dozen titles, but today we have the most epic battle of them all... Intel vs. AMD's box cooler battle. Ok, so we may be overselling this one, but it is something we've wanted to do for a long time but hadn't got around to do it using a satisfactory test method. Then with the Wraith Stealth we see a further 7 degree increase for the load temp and now things are starting to get warm at 60 degrees. Remember we are only half pushing the CPU in this test, so let's move on to a 100% load test with Blender.

It could also be the case that your CPU fan header is plugged into the wrong 4 pin. I remember historically that I plugged it into the pump header once which produced some strange results. The next issue we ran into was fan speed. Typically, Intel box coolers are noisy buggers that spin very fast. Last time we tested one with the Core i7-8700 on a Z390 board it spun at between 3000 - 3500 RPM. On the Phantom Gaming-ITX the fan never spun faster than 2100 RPM which is an issue for the Intel cooler as it relies on fan speed to keep temperatures under control, or at least stops the CPU from melting through the PCB. We messed around for quite some time but couldn't get the fan to spin at full speed for more than a few seconds.The science of airflow is fluid dynamics. Air flow the same as liquids do. Read the guide in link I gave you previously to get an idea of how it works. Trying to use top rear as intake will not work. It would just create a lot of turbulence and mixing of heated air with cool air. If you're a faithful player of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rainbow Six: Siege, or Valorant, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G makes it possible to build your next "good enough" gaming rig for much less than what it would cost with any other processor that's come before it. That's especially true if you would otherwise have had to buy a new graphics card, in the midst of the gruesome price inflation that GPU hardware has seen from 2020 to present. Then with the cooler that comes with the 2600, the Wraith Stealth we see temps hit 72 degrees and now we're getting up there. Ideally you don't want temps going too far beyond 70 degrees for prolonged use. That said you could increase the fan speed for better results as even the Stealth was spinning at just 2000 RPM. I should note though that the Spire and Stealth do a good job of pushing air over the motherboard's VRM. Now, to focus on the area where the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G is tuned to perform at its best: PC gaming, especially at popular resolutions like 1080p, where the CPU comes to the fore in some titles. First, we have the small Wraith Stealth (65W TDP) which is bundled with the Ryzen 5 1400 processor, then there's the Wraith Spire (95W TDP)

It would not be worth it for them to compete in the CPU cooling market with all the third party manufactures. Specifications The Wraith Prism is the cooler AMD supplies with the Ryzen 7 3700X and 3800X along with the Ryzen 9 3900X. We saw the R5 3600 peak at just 71 degrees when spinning its fan at 2100 RPM, and remember it was choked with cardboard. So the Prism set the benchmark at 71 degrees. Intel used the copper insert version for not just the Sandy Bridge i5 and i7 processors, but also for the Ivy Bridge and Haswell generations. By the time Skylake was released Intel dumped the copper model entirely, in favor of the cheaper aluminum model. In other words, CPUs such as the 6-core/12-thread Core i7-8700 came with the lousy aluminum cooler which I recall testing about how it throttled and ran at 100 C out of the box.The Wraith Spire sports a circular design and comes with a 92mm fan while the Wraith Max has a square design and also comes with a 92mm fan. According to my measurements, the Wraith Max has the same design structure as the original Wraith Cooler. Moving to the Wraith Spire increased the load temperature by 6 degrees and although the CPU is now running hotter the fan speed for the Spire only maxed out at 1700 RPM so the operating volume was much the same. VRM temps also remained much the same.
