Silk," "In Celebration Of The Human Spirit," "Hot Fire," and "Sunwalk" recorded at Van Gelder Recording Studio, September 21-24, 1981, Rudy Van Gelder, Engineer. Bass – Stanley Clarke Drums – Ndugu* Guitar – Eric Gale, George Benson Keyboards, Synthesizer – Ronnie Foster Percussion – Sammy Figueroa Tenor Saxophone – Stanley Turrentine Trumpet – Tom Browne Jazz (Funk) has its superstars and when the likes of Stanley Clarke (Bass Guitar), Eric Gale (Lead Guitar), Lenny White (Drums), Tom Browne (Trumpet), John McLaughlin (Guitars), Stanley Turrentine (Saxophones), Wynton Marsalis (Trumpet) and George Benson (Guitar) plus many others pool their resources, that is one hell of a band. Also, you get the added bonus of Deodato’s disco infused ‘Super Strut’ and the haunting ‘Home Is Where The Hatred Is’ by Esther Phillips. As producer Creed Taylor commented, Fuse One was conceived as a forum in which major contemporary musicians perform according to their own musical disciplines and interact without the constraints that accompany leader responsibilities. Each player brings in new compositions and ideas.Adapted By – Jeremy Wall Drums – Lenny White Electric Bass – Will Lee Electric Piano [Fender Rhodes] – Jorge Dalto Percussion – Roger Squitero Soloist, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar – Larry Coryell Soloist, Electric Piano [Yamaha Electronic Grand] – Jeremy Wall Written-By – Bedrich Smetana* Fuse One was a group of jazz musicians who collaborated for two albums released on CTI Records and one album released on GNP Crescendo Record Co.. [1] Membership was not concrete, but included Tony Williams, Joe Farrell, John McLaughlin, Stanley Turrentine, Wynton Marsalis, Larry Coryell, Lenny White, Paulinho Da Costa, Ronnie Foster, Stanley Clarke, George Benson, Todd Cochran, Leon "Ndugu" Chancler, Tom Browne, Dave Valentin, Jorge Dalto, and Eric Gale. Tom Browne, trumpet; Wynton Marsalis, trumpet, flugelhorn; Dave Valentin, flute; Ronnie Foster, keyboards, synthesizer; Eric Gale, guitar; Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, bass; Ndugu, drums; Manolo Badrena, Sammy Figueroa, percussion; Stanley Clarke, arranger. The Deodato release has been joined by another pair of albums, this time from Deodato's old label CTI Records. Before it was fashionable, producer Creed Taylor's label had been injecting pop and R&B sensibilities into jazz, paving the way for the commercial fusion sound. Fuse One was the label's late-period supergroup, releasing three albums beginning in 1980. The "supergroup" concept wasn't new to CTI; not only had the label sponsored "All-Star" concerts, but its top-tier musicians frequently cross-pollinated each other's albums in truly democratic style. Robinsongs' two-fer presents two of the group's three releases from this unique group designed without a proper "leader."

Wynton Marsalis, trumpet, flugelhorn; Dave Valentin, flute; Ronnie Foster, keyboards, synthesizer; Eric Gale, guitar; Stanley Clarke, bass; Ndugu, drums; Manolo Badrena, Sammy Figueroa, percussion; Ndugu, arranger. The news of Roger’s death in April 1999 stunned Funk & Soul Fans around the globe as apparently he had been murdered by his older brother and song writing partner Larry Troutman, who then committed suicide, why still remains a mystery. Bass – Stanley Clarke Drums – Ndugu* Flute – Dave Valentin Guitar – Eric Gale Keyboards, Synthesizer – Ronnie Foster Percussion – Manolo Badrena, Sammy Figueroa Trumpet, Flugelhorn – Wynton Marsalis You will also find some great album cuts by the likes of Kenny Burrell, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Farrell & Stanley Turrentine.
