About this deal

For me, I prefer razors with four or more blades, so found this razor to be better suited to my underarms over my legs. I’d also prefer slightly bigger lubricating strips, however, it did the job and is a great choice for those looking for a cheap, disposable razor that’s less harmful to the planet. FFS Safety razors also give a closer shave than most razors—despite having only one blade!—because of how sharp the blade is (and so long you know the right technique).

Having said that, it’s perhaps best not to shave around your genitals with a safety razor, just in case! Are safety razors allowed in hand luggage? What began as a single reusable bamboo straw transformed into a brand ethically creating and selling zero waste shaving cream, eco-friendly cutlery, and much more. Our plastic-free bamboo razors are very easy to use and after 1 or 2 uses you will have already mastered your new razor! Before you start using your sustainable razor, it is recommended to prepare your skin first. To do so, it is better to shave during or after a hot shower, as it would open up your pores and permit a closer shaving. However, if you are a hot shower lover, it is preferable to allow your skin to cool down before shaving since hot water will soften your skin, and you risk cutting yourself. Use a 30-degree angle, go slowly and be willing to learn and you’ll soon master the art of shaving with a safety razor. Closed comb razors have a singular metal guard with small ridges that filter hair into the gaps as the razor is dragged across your skin. The metal guard reduces irritation and provides a small barrier between the blade and the surface that is being shaved. When a razor has more than one blade, it’s using a lift-and-cut method. The first blade actually lifts the hair, while the second (and third and fourth and fifth) slices the hair off. The result is a close shave, sure, but also a greater likelihood of ingrown hairs. Plus, the more blades you have, the more friction you create. And friction means irritation (i.e., razor burn). The Edwin Jagger is compatible with all standard safety razor blades and includes all the instructions you need to shave accurately. Razor type:

Switching to a reusable razor is not just a green choice; it can also give you a superior shaving experience. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to irritation, shaving can become a special kind of hell. Gillette, however, has a solution. According to Dr. Azadeh Shirazi, its SkinGuard razor comes with a special guard on the blade that prevents it from shaving too close but doesn’t sacrifice efficacy. "It’s durable with a SkinGuard technology positioned between the blades to help protect the skin with each stroke. It minimizes tugging and pulling and therefore reduces the risk of irritation, so great for sensitive skin types." While we only feature one pivoting head option with multiple thin blades here, it’s important to distinguish this type of razor from your standard safety razor. Note: There have been several complaints about rust appearing fast on the blades. To avoid that, make sure to dry your organic razors after use and store in a dry container.

It comprises both balance and weight within the handle to ensure an accurate close shave, and a knurled handle to improve grip. Weight: A heavier razor means you need to apply less pressure while shaving. You let the weight of the razor do the work. With a lighter razor, you need to apply some pressure to get a closer shave, and it can lead to cuts. But with the right technique, it will give the same result as heavier razors, while giving you slightly more control. But in reality, it’s once again a matter of preference and many agree that they prefer a heavier razor for the premium feel, rather than for performance. Design Features: Autosense technology adjusts to beard density, sonic technology, waterproof, cleaning and charging station, 60 minute run time Reading comments from previous users is a great way to get a balanced opinion about any product, including a reusable metal razor. There are other eco-friendly shaving options, but they aren’t quite as eco-friendly as safety razors. The GreenVibe razor, for example, is made from eco-friendly materials… but it isn’t as durable as a safety razor and it creates more waste. How to Choose a Razor as a Beginner

Since they’re sharp and hazardous, women’s razor blades aren’t accepted with the rest of your curbside recycling. If you prefer a close and sturdy shave with a single-blade, fixed head safety razor, Leaf also offers one.

Our favorite razor for women is the Bamboo Safety Razor, which comes one blade fits all and features Earth’s most sustainable material: bamboo. We recommend exfoliating first then moisturising afterwards. Remember to adjust your angle, use shorter strokes and go slowly in the beginning to avoid cutting yourself. Do safety razors rust? Safety razors might look scary but if used properly, they can be just as safe as using a disposable razor. Their reusable safety razors are made of stainless steel and zinc alloy and are resistant to corrosion thanks to their highly polished finish. And let’s not forget to mention that, once again, they are 100% plastic-free safety razors!
