Blade change is simple with a single hex screw fastening with the hex wrench stored in the machine handle

If you are only doing occasional cuts on a workbench at home then a corded jigsaw might be best for you. Secondly, there is a price difference between both as cordless kits sometimes do not come with batteries and need to be bought separately. This begs into the question of brand loyalty as most new lithium ions are going to be universal amongst their brand. This allows you the freedom of buying one or two batteries that will last years and is interchangeable Over the years I've always stayed away from named products like Makita, Dewalt and other big named tools due to the excess they charge for there products. The Makita 4329 Jigsaw is ideally suited for light duty activities and will appeal to both the professional and the serious DIY enthusiasts. Incorporating a counterweight balancing system, which reduces vibration, the 4329 can be used for long periods without operator fatigue occurring. A sliding dust cover improves dust collection and prevents the scattering of chips. Fitted with a smooth rigid aluminium base which is rustproof and glides over the workpiece. Bevel cutting up to 45 degrees left or right is also possible with the tiltable base. The highest quality cordless jigsaw that hits all the right notes and balances a convenient price tag would have to go to the DeWalt 18V XR. Its power just kept the motor going no matter what you throw at it. I would have chosen the Bosch cordless jigsaw if they would have included a battery in their selling price, these two are, by far, the best cordless jigsaws that money can buy.It is a relatively portable power tool comprised of an electric motor that bobs aka “jigs up and down” a saw blade. It can go by multiple names including Scroll saw, Bayonet saw and or Sabre saw. I suppose the two biggest factors to take into account when deciding between corded or cordless jigsaws is application and budget. Both corded and cordless will handle similarly power wise but if you finding yourself moving around between cuts often, cordless is the way to go.

Makita’s Top Handle Jigsaw, the 4350CT, combines power and superior feel with substantially less vibration and noise for improved cutting performance. It is ideal for woodworkers, cabinet makers, remodelers, and general contractors seeking a best-in-class top handle jigsaw. I’m normally more of a function orientated guy but Bosch has really stepped up their game in the visual department. First off, this is an extremely capable jigsaw for all your DIY needs and even medium professional usage. If you don’t have any Bosch tools, this is a great introduction. It comes equipped with a feature called Syneon Chip. Long story short, the new chip technology is ensuring the perfect load at the right time. It is constantly adjusting the motor and gears throughout various applications. This not only conserves battery life but also ensures the long viability of the electric motor components. The 4350CT has three orbital settings plus straight cutting, powered by a Makita-built 6.3 AMP motor. The electronic variable speed control (800 - 2,800 SPM) is engineered to maintain consistent speed throughout the cut for superior results. The motor is dynamically balanced for 40% less tool vibration and lower noise than competitive models. The 4350CT has a 26mm length of stroke, with a wood cutting capacity of 135mm at 90° and a steel cutting capacity of 10mm at 90°. A clear acrylic dust cover shields the blade drive allowing the operator a clear view of the cut line orbital settings plus straight cutting with powerful 6.3 AMP motor for cutting in all varieties of materialsAlmost all the Jigsaws below have this slide in blade mechanism but older units were notoriously a pain to replace the blades as they were often screwed in. Due to the fact that the blade is rather thin and long with no bottom support, one has to be careful in what applications they use it for. It is sometimes tough to manoeuvre so there is a slight learning curve to turning cuts as rather than forcing the blade one must let it be steered by the reciprocating motion. I've had/owned/used and killed cheaper power tools and I've come to the conclusion over the years that cheap tools, specially those that require power of some sort are cheap for a reason. They don't last or the product is updated in such a way that you cannot get parts for which means you have to throw it away and buy another cheap power tool. I love the Makita brand but I'm also warming to the Dewalt brand as well as I have some of there gear too. The highest quality Jigsaw hands down goes to the DeWalt DW331 Jigsaw. As mentioned, for those who need simply the most power that will keep on going even through the toughest jobs, need this saw. That actual drill died it's death about 2yrs ago but not before I had the chance to buy another two cordless hammer/drill/screw driver units and then eventually a Makita jigsaw and circular saw.

Now that we have that out of the way time to talk about what makes this one of the best cordless jigsaws. First off, in design it differs in the fact that it produces a very large amount of torque which gives longer battery life and less motor friction. With an 18V Lithium Ion XLT battery, you will be putting out a whopping 390W or up to 3500 strokes per minute of output which is impressive to say the least in the cordless genre. Furthermore, you will be able to cut a maximum 135mm into hardwood.I've owned this Makita Jigsaw now for at least two years if not longer now. i did pay more than I would have liked to have done but even to this day and even tough it doesn't get used that much it's still like new. The JV100DZ 10.8V Jigsaw features a variable speed control trigger, and offers up to a 45 degree bevel in aluminium. Running on 10.8v power, you will be able to complete any project you are working on. The no load speed of up to 2,400 SPM will allow your bayonet shanks to cut into any surface. This jigsaw features a stroke length of 18 mm, while having a maximum cutting capacity in wood of 65mm and a maximum for mild steel at 2 mm. Much like all Jigsaws on this list, the corded DeWalt has an easy tool-free change system for blades and also accepts T-shank Blades. The dust blower was the best of the units tested and more than adequately cleared the work area of dust and debris while cutting. Finally, the Rubber coated grip was my favourite for extended use as it drastically reduced vibrations in my hand. Much like the Bosch, this DeWalt cordless jigsaw does not come with any batteries or charger. One major difference is the fan cooled motor has replaceable brushes if by chance they did happen to burn out. This is highly unlikely as the intelligent XR lithium system carefully controls the torque and speed depending upon the load. Under full load, you will be able to cut at up to 3000 strokes per minute but also have full control of the speed with the intelligent variable speed trigger.

Variable speed control dial (800-2,800 SPM) enables user to match the speed to the application for superior results Secondly, there is a price difference between both as cordless kits sometimes do not come with batteries and need to be bought separately. This begs into the question of brand loyalty as most new lithium-ions are going to be universal amongst their brand. This allows you the freedom of buying one or two batteries that will last years and is interchangeable between all your tools. How do you stop a jigsaw blade from bending? I came across a Makita 18v drill some years ago and it was well used when I obtained it. A couple of new batteries later and I carried on using it in places I didn't really fancy using a power drill in the event that drill snagged and twisted the power drill out of my hand like if I'm up a ladder. Die-cast aluminium base adjusts up to 45° right or left and positive stop at 90° for solid cutting performanceMakita jigsaws are a cost effective solution for those who need a powerful saw, without the high price tag that is often associated with them. These affordable jigsaws still have the same accuracy that you are looking for and will stand up to the toughest jobs you will encounter. At the end of the day it's just a jigsaw and maybe to some people an over inflated priced jigsaw but to me it's a nicely priced jigsaw that if it breaks down at all I'm able to get it serviced at a Makita service centre or I've able to get hold of parts on the internet to do it myself.
