About this deal

Keen's Mustard Powder is composed of finely crushed mustard seeds and is sold in 50g or 100g tins. [1] The concept of “curry powder’” is actually a Bristish invention by the Indian spice merchants. It was an attempt to bring the flavor of Indian dishes that British colonists came to love home. Where Does The Term “Curry” Come From?

As the mix became popular in America, unfortunately, “curry powder” became synonymous with Indian curry, which is quite a misrepresentation of the vast array of Indian curries and flavors that they bring. First, you cook the sausages in a large frying pan for about 5 minutes or until browned. You then remove the sausages, slice into pieces diagonally and set aside. Freezing instructions; Store it in appropriately sized portions (family-sized or in individual serves) so that you can just thaw what you need at the time. Add it to freezer-safe, airtight containers and freeze it for up to 3 months- ready to reheat when you need something comforting and cosy. I always make a double batch and freeze half for next time. To thaw, place in the fridge overnight, or leave out at room temperature for 2-3 hours. Once completely cool, place the toasted whole spices in a spice/coffee grinder along with the remaining ingredients and grind until you get a fine powder.Adjust the curry powder to suit. Start with a tablespoon and add a little more to taste, if needed. You can also add less, if desired.

To turn up the heat; choose a hot curry powder or add chilli powder to add your desired level of heat. Where Does The Term “Curry” Come From?

This recipe is made using Australian cups and spoon measurements. Due to cup sizes varying from country to country, I advise adjusting if necessary. Brown the sausages –cook them whole, then remove them from the pan and cut into smaller, angled pieces. * Don’t worry if they’re not cooked all the way through at this stage, they will continue cooking in the gravy. Really, the term “curry” could be used as a substitute for the word “masala” which means a “mix of spices”. We take a shortcut and use each of these spices in their already ground form, so all you have to do is mix them together. Typically, this spice mixture is made fresh for each dish. That way, Indian chefs and home cooks really aren’t tied to any one flavor combination. (Like a set “Italian seasoning blend”.) They can vary the flavors, sweetness, heat, and so on, of their curry powder spice mix depending on what flavors they are looking for in their dish.

Use any fresh or frozen vegetables. Try adding diced potatoes, shredded cabbage, corn, mushrooms, green beans, celery, snow peas, kale, capsicum, broccoli or diced, mixed frozen vegetables. In the 1930s, the Keen's Mustard Club was created. Members received a Mustard Club Badge in the shape of a mustard pot and a booklet entitled "Inner Secrets of the Mustard Club". And some of these really old fashioned curried sausages recipes had a few secret ingredients that have been forgotten in the recipes that are around today. While toasting whole spices and grinding them fresh will give you the most fragrant and flavorful curry powder, sometimes you just want easy access to curry powder, without the extra steps. Please note that the nutrition informationis based on the mince being divided into 4 bowls, with one bowl being one serve. The nutritional information is an estimate only and does not take into account any additional ingredients or sides served with the mince.Store the spice blend in an airtight jar in a dark, cool place. Will keep for several months but for best flavor use within a few weeks.

You sure can. The only thing better than a curried sausages meal is when you already have it made and portioned up in the freezer. Curries Sausages should be fine for up to 3 months in the freezer. As we dive into the possible ingredients below, you will see that the list is quite varied, which will hopefully encourage you to try adding some new spices to your curry powder, or try out a curry that uses toasted spices.
