About this deal

Sit the ham on a double layer of foil and lift the sides to create a shallow foil bowl. Pour the honey mixture over the ham and wrap tightly; you may need to use a third piece of foil to cover the whole ham. Sit the wrapped ham on a trivet in the pressure cooker and add 500ml/18fl oz water – the ham should be raised from the bottom of the pan and not submerged in water. Fix the lid on the pressure cooker and place over a high heat until it reaches pressure. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 45 minutes for a 1.4kg/3lb 2oz ham (30 minutes per kg). (If using an electric pressure cooker, use the high pressure setting for 45 minutes.) In fact, the only thing my kids couldn’t do was handle the hot cooked ham or carve the score marks. The AF75 ham boiler has a remote control box fitted to the machine itself. This model ham boiler has been manufactured for over 10 years and has proved to be a versatile and reliable ham boiler. Grind the coriander seeds in a pestle and mortar. In a bowl, mix the grated orange zest and sugars, then add the ground coriander seeds. Sift the mustard powder evenly over the ham, then scatter the sugar mixture over the work surface and roll the ham in the mixture to coat the fat. Push a clove into the centre of each diamond in the fat of the ham. Drizzle over the honey. Split peas are nutritious and a great source of protein and fibre, as well as iron and potassium. They’re also low in fat. So yes, they’re really good for you! Do the split peas need soaking?

Get your kids to measure out the honey, mustard and cinnamon into a small bowl and then mix it together.Carefully remove the ham from the pan and let it cool slightly before removing the hot foil. (CAUTION: hot steam can burn.) Lift the ham from the foil onto a deep baking tray and pour over the marinade. If you do have leftovers, they’ll keep in the fridge for a few days. Ham leftovers are nice served cold in a sandwich or salad. Set the cook time for 30 minutes (ours has a pressure cooker function called meat setting that I use for this but still set it to 30 minutes) The size can vary, we have used a small 1.3kg round joint in this recipe, which is available all year around. One of the best things about cooking gammon in the slow cooker is that not many ingredients are needed. Gammon Joint

This smoked gammon in cider doesn't require many ingredients but each one really adds to the finished ham. For best results, we recommend purchasing an instant-read thermometer and warming your ham, regardless of size, until it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F. While they are doing that, carefully remove your ham from the slow cooker and put it in an oven dish/baking tray.Test the saltiness of your ham by slicing a small piece off the end and frying it in a little oil. If the ham is very salty, you will need to soak it for 12 hours in cold water, changing the water once. If your ham is quite salty, place the joint in a very large pan, cover with cold water, bring to the boil. Drain and discard the cooking water. We use the carrot to help lift the gammon joint off the base of the slow cooker pot (like a trivet). For the larger joint, I would go for 60 minutes in the pressure cooker, this size joint is great for leftovers too, so make sure nothing goes to waste! How long to cook gammon joint in a pressure cooker? This honey glazed gammon in cider is straightforward and easy to make, but sometimes it's easier to follow along with the visual cues as well as the step by step instructions. Carefully remove the ham from the slow cooker and transfer it to a large carving board. Tent with foil and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, using an electric carving knife, cut the ham into even slices and arrange them on a platter. Serve warm and enjoy.

While you may be tempted to blast your ham on high (we’re just reheating it, after all), warm your ham in a slow cooker low and slow. Warming a ham on high runs a higher risk of drying out the ham and making it tough. Using your slow cooker’s low setting will yield a ham that’s much more juicy, tender and flavorful. Let the ham rest Cut leftovers into cubes and use them in our stunning leftover turkey and ham pie or serve it chopped up with Basmati Rice. Jump to Recipe Slow cooker gammon in coke Slow cooker gammon in coke is the easiest dinner you can make. The coke adds a delicious sweetness that balances the saltiness of the gammon making it a hit for all the family. You can use hot or cold water at the start it doesn't make any difference during the slow cooking process. When it’s ready – it should look a lovely golden brown colour and the skin on top should have crisped up nicely – remove it from the oven and leave it to rest for 5 minutes.Gammon in coke might sound a bit weird but it really is delicious. The coke adds sweetness to balance the cooked ham’s saltiness. The honey, mustard glaze adds a last hit of sweetness too which even my fussy eaters enjoyed. Can you cook the gammon in diet coke?
