The KBD75 full aluminum frame with foam inside was the perfect soundstage for these switches, not to mention the switch film prevented an of the wobble from muddying the sound. I haven’t personally tested them myself yet, so I can’t quite give them a glowing recommendation, but they could be an excellent substitute.

The only switch that differs slightly is the Gateron Clear switch which is totally different from the Cherry MX Clear. Instead of being a heavy tactile, the Gateron Clear is a super-light linear switch.

The benefits of this switch design are the fact that they allow a mechanical keyboard to be designed to be thinner and have a shorter actuation distance, which is in theory is faster for gaming. Gateron Yellows are one of the smoothest Gateron switches out there with absolutely no wobbling issues, meaning that there is no need to film them. For a long time, Gateron has been considered as the best choice to have where Cherry MX switches are absent. Sure, they are clones, but they are good enough for a raft of purposes. This includes gaming and typing. Moreover, they are designed to have a smoother feel. This is a great factor, especially if you’re heavy-handed while typing or gaming. Such force needs to be tamed by a spring to protect your switches. With heavier springs, you have the ideal support and resistance for your fingers. This means you can slam them down at will or bottom out entire keycaps.They both have some level of speed and key actuation. However, Gateron trumps it for us, especially when there’s a clear sound to indicate when a keystroke is generated. Kailh comes close with a good key travel distance, too. With most Gaterons, bottoming out won’t be an issue while using your keyboard. Factors to Consider When Buying a Switch With faster response on each keystroke, typing, gaming, and other functions are worthwhile. It’s also worth noting that the Kailh imitation of Cherry is somewhat off the mark. They have a scratchy feel and might make your functions seem a bit too labored. As you can see from the table above, Gateron has a comprehensive lineup of switches that all offer a unique feel and aesthetic. The Gateron Blue switch gives a tactile sensation and sound, with a noticeable bump with each press to ensure every keystroke is on point.
